My prediction: GOP ticket in 2012
Lieberman/Huckabee

And the Dems in DC STILL won't throw Joe out of the caucus or out of committee chairs.
In fact if he is elected president the dems will still want him to come to the caucus meetings, just
to make sure we are being bi-partisan enough on things.

1. I don't think so. Joe is butt ugly, has the charisma of cold oatmeal,
and talks like Droopy Dawg. Not to mention he is a fucking douchebag and people on both sides can sense it.

2. He's too old and too "mopy" to be the lead on an electable ticket

I'm sorry politics comes down to this, but trust me, any political strategist worth his or her weight in salt is going to tell you that you don't want the massively old white guy "Droopy(tm)" candidate as your presidential nominee.

-------Lieberman----------Huckabee

And before anyone says "oh yeah, well they nominated McCain!," lots of people cringes that McCain got the nomination for those very reasons, but he did have his energetic "Maverick" gimmick to try and work, and at least before the generals, he didn't give off the impression of being "old" to people.

3. Bring it on!
 I wonder if lieberman could be elected dogcatcher, even w/the conservatives. I don't think his Senate career will survive the next election, unless he changes parties, and even then...

4. not going to happen... Lieberman is too pro-choice and too pro-gay rights and too pro-environment
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 12:51 AM by Douglas Carpenter
perhaps not enough to satisfy most Democrats - but way more than enough to make him completely unacceptable to the Fundamentalist and the tea-baggers and other "social conservatives" who now hold more influence in the GOP than ever.

We now know that McCain really did want Lieberman for V.P. and Lieberman would have almost certainly accepted. But, this would have been completely unacceptable to the base who dominate the party and now dominate it even more. So he ended up with Sarah Palin instead - real red meat. But I doubt that Sarah Palin will be the nominee either. But it will be somebody who the funamentalist, the tea-baggers and other social conservatives rally behind. That group now dominates the party and they control airwaves, right-wing blogosphere, and the shopping mall foot soldiers.

8. No, Lieberman's a perrenial #2
He just doesn't have the Joe-mentum to carry a ticket - he best in the number 2 slot, so he can stab the head nominee in the back afterwards.
