Are you Pissed off proggressives? Lets start now on 2010 with these candidates
Jennifer Brunner, is Secretary of State in Ohio, and much more progressive then the establishment backed Lee Fisher, in the race for Ohio's senate seat.

http://www.jenniferbrunner.com /

Rhode Island State Representative Betsy Dennigan, who is progressive and pro-choice, is running in a primary against current Rep. James Langevin, who voted for the Stupak amendment.

http://betsydenniganforcongress.com/?page_id=10

Andrew Romanoff is the former Colorado House Majority Leader, who has bucked the establishment and even the President to run a primary against Michael Bennet, who voted against the Cram-down legislation, and until very recently was not generally supportive of the public option.

http://www.andrewromanoff.com /

Doug Tudor is a progressive Democrat running in the primary against self-proclaimed "blue-dog" Lori Edwards in Florida's 12 Congressional District.

http://www.teamtudor.org/index.asp

Bloomington Resident D'Ippolito is running against Evan Bayh.
http://www.tamyraforsenate.com /

Joe Sestak running against Republican turned Democrat Arlen Spector.
http://joesestak.com /

Marcy Winograd running against DLC Rep. Jane Harman in California.
www.winograd4congress.com

Regina Thomas running against blue-dog John Barrow in Georgia. No website yet.

10. Tough order to fill
Lee Fischer is, and has always been a complete asshole. But, he's the establishment Dem pick in Ohio.

The DLC and Blue Dogs are already interfering in Tudor's primary. Alan Boyd and Debbie Weaselman-Schlitz are holding a big fundraiser in DC for Edwards. That should put her up about $400k in fundraising, right out of the box.

Electing women just for the sake of electing women is meaningless. They should be about electing progressive women.

23. And some stealth arm twisting appears to have Lynn Woolsey and Henry Waxman against Winograd!
... and supporting Harman instead. Rahm, Keane, and the DCCC, and DSCC I suspect doing this, much like they probably arm twisted Barbara Boxer to endorse other blue dog candidates some years back too.

I'm guessing the same forces also forced Waxman with probably similar pressure to keep him from having Sibel Edmonds testify to the government oversight committee, and is likely why he left that committee chairmanship too...

Winograd is the real deal and is a perfect example of the races we need to win this coming midterm election. We need more candidates like her running in districts like these against entrenched blue dogs like Harman.

12. Doug Tudor's response to tonights fiasco
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 12:49 AM by liskddksil
Tonight, we Democrats lost the U.S. Senate seat that had been held for nearly five decades by America’s Senator, Ted Kennedy, and his brother, John F. Kennedy, before him. Shame on us.

Shame on us for not more actively highlighting the many areas where we Democrats help America’s working families. We are the party that wants to reform healthcare. We are the party that wants to provide quality education to all children. We are the party that respects the rights of all Americans -- women, GLTB, and minorities. We are the party that demands the rule of law, even in the face of horrendous enemies.

http://www.teamtudor.org/blog.asp

He also was endorsed by the local teamster's union.

I think she should. She sounds way more progressive on HCR than Bayh, and the teabaggers should already know that
--maybe we can just primary Bayh.

She is talking about citizen government and HCR on her website.
And she has a dog in the fight, her own cancerous colon.

22. Encourage Pete DeFazio to STAY IN the House and not run for governor of Oregon...
We NEED more like him to stay in Washington where national policy changes are needed.

John Kitzhaber returning to the governorship I think will serve the state of Oregon well, and allow us to keep DeFazio to stay in Washington where he's needed.

Don't want to limit DeFazio's career, but I think now more than ever, we need to get the nucleus of progressive power formed in Washington.

I wish that we'd persuaded Feinstein to leave the senate to run for California governor in the runoff election. Would have done a lot less damage there and wouldn't have been any worse than Arnold (arguably probably the same).

42. Another: Bera vs Lundgren in California's 3rd district.
Dr. Bera is a true progressive, who is challenging conservative Republican Dan Lundgren. We won in the 10th with now-Representative John Garamendi, and we can unseat Lundgren and win again with Ami Bera.

I'm a huge fan of Ami's but don't live in the area. If anyone here does live in CD-3 or nearby, watch the website and check the "Upcoming Events" tab for volunteer opportunities and events:

If she can manage to "out-primary" establishment fave Lee Fisher, not only does she have a decent shot against Rob Portman but I see her as a rising star in the Democratic Party.

On a personal note, her unapologetic support for same-sex marriage is heartwarming to me.
