Authors: McCain aides worried that Palin was ‘mentally unstable’
Scary to think how close we came.

According to an advance copy thoroughly dog-ear'd by The New York Times, some McCain staffers who worked directly with Palin began to worry that she could be "mentally unstable."

After her misstatements and outright lies repeatedly caused the campaign to stumble and backpedal, a discussion began to emerge: Were McCain to win, how best could they relegate her "to the largely ceremonial role that premodern vice presidents inhabited"?

2. Of course she's mentally unstable...
I've been convinced of that many times watching her being interviewed or seeing her body language in crowds. The woman is nuts.

5. The wink said it all. She is profoundly incapable of the job and she knows it.
It still boggles my mind when I remember it: there's nothing quite like going on national TV with 10s of millions of people watching and conveying (with that wink) not only that every woman watching "better keep an eye on your man around me" but also something other than what you see is going on.

8. What frightens me was how irresponsible McCain and his people were
with our nation's future. The were pushing the oldest first time President with someone they knew was mentally unstable. How can that be justified by anyone, even the most hardened partisan?

12. DING, DING, DING!
The buck stops with McCain. The first important choice a candidate for President makes for the security of the American People is his/her choice for VP. McCain chose poorly.

21. He was seriously pissed that he wasn't allowed to name his pal Lieberdweeb,
so naming Sarah was his version of knocking over the table and scattering the game pieces.

15. How? It's called by various names: hubris, blasphemy, conceit, but the main thing in all of those is
being disconnected from REALITY, in this case by mental habit and by their stations in life.

16. she knows nothing of the kind
'I tell people what to do, what I want, they go do it. If anything goes wrong, I blame the people who did what I told them to do.......how hard can it be? I take all the perks and none of the responibility.... people make this job look harder than it is.' If her policies fail to work or make things better it would be 'because people don't believe enough in God because God wants me to be President and save humankind.....he told me so.'

it sounds like a load of gossip to me, based on what's come out so far, and based on who wrote it.

19. Maybe.
I view her as somewhat dangerous as I do the elements of the tea party movement and militia movements.

13. Don't blame Palin; McCain is a first class bastard.
He never gave a damn about this country as show by his choice of a mentally unstable ignoramus as his running mate. McCain is just another privileged brat like Bush both of whom are worthless under achieving parasites.

25. Yes, the blame is squarely on his shoulders. Should have had the guts to go with who he really
wanted. Of course, that would be my lovely Senator, Joe Lieberman.

31. I agree. It is absolutely unconscionable that these people would pick this woman as their VP
candidate. If this ain't a jailable offense, it damn well should be.

17. I think they're smearing her
these are the people who ran McCain's dishonest campaign against Obama, and now they have a new political opponent and they're working their magic on her.

Not that I care one iota for her sake. She participated enthusiastically with their lying attacks on Obama, and probably went even further on her own.

they go into actions in greater detail and it certainly is damning. Besides if this was a work of fiction Harry Reid wouldn't have apologized.

32. +1
McCain's only saving grace was that he didn't enthusiastically recieve "blessing" and invocation from a demon obsessed, witch hunting Pentacostal priest.
