"We are a nation at war, and the Republican's efforts to block President Obama's nominees is
tantamount to treason"

Let's play that back at the republicans.

to kill "suspects" all over the ME at will.

We may very well START WWIII with our shameless and indiscriminate KILLING.

But no, WE are NOT at WAR ... yet. :eyes:

7. No, getting shit done entails that the Obama Administration NOT PLAY the GOP's games nor
Edited on Thu Jan-07-10 06:05 PM by ShortnFiery
allow themselves to be defined by them.

GETTING truly helpful things done (for the wage earning USA Citizen) means doing "what's right" over concerns for re-elections in 2010 and 2012.

Serving in CONGRESS and as The President should first be seen as "a public service" that you are PROUD to take the tough stands for your constituents ---> NOT as a way to eventually enrich yourself, your family members and all your crony friends. :(

Legislative Limbo Strands Many of Obama’s Nominees
By HELENE COOPER

WASHINGTON — Almost every day, the news releases go up on the White House Web site and go out to reporters: “President Obama announces more key administration posts,” they read.

Trouble is, many of those administration posts are being held up in the Senate in a political do-si-do that is traditional on Capitol Hill but seems to have become more tangled than ever in partisanship.

Of the 200 or so Obama nominations pending, some 75 have gotten through committee but were being held up for various reasons in the Senate, administration officials and Congressional staff members said. During their last gasps of official business after the health care vote on Thursday morning, senators cleared 35 nominees by unanimous consent — far short of the 60 that administration officials had been hoping to get through by the end of the year.

One of those finally approved was Miriam Sapiro, who had become the Obama administration’s prime example of stalled nominations since being chosen in April to be a deputy United States trade representative. Senator Jim Bunning, Republican of Kentucky, put a hold on the confirmation of Ms. Sapiro, an Internet policy consultant, to try to pressure the trade representative’s office to file a complaint with the World Trade Organization against Canada over a law that bans cigarettes with candy flavors.

I don't think he's interested in Obama's nominees.

21. Let me see, who is the LEADER of the nation that is sending Killer Drones all over the
Middle East executing "suspected" militants at will? It's not a stretch to extrapolate that President Obama is following in George W. Bush's footsteps EXACTLHY with regard to foreign policy matters.

11. Then WHY did Bush push through all measures of legislation?
Obama does NOT LEAD and he does not HAVE A TEAM.

Obama is NOT "a leader" but "a speech maker" and "a consensus builder."

He reminds of a Professor so "lost in thought" that true COURAGE and ACTION are beyond his capabilities.

President Obama, for all his super high intelligence merely wants to be "the most popular boy in class."

Forgive me, but I see NO SEMBLANCE of courage nor leadership from this man. He is merely a servant of those "wealthy elites" who give him his talking points.

Yes, President Obama makes one hell-of-a-persuasive speech. Not all that unlike John Wayne PLAYED a remarkable Special Forces Soldier ... but SADLY, neither of them could be considered "The Genuine Article."

17. I despise George W. Bush as a person. However, in one small but "very essential" facet
of being "commander-in-chief" George Bush excelled - that's in the area of Team Building and Motivating people who worked for him.

Hell, I'd hate to have him for a relative but I bet he'd be a great T Ball coach for kids.

George W. Bush is an horse's patootie, but he's also "a natural born LEADER."

That SPARK: The talent to FOCUS on nurturing the talents and DRIVE PEOPLE to their highest standards ... to build and consistently motivate groups of people is NOT what I'm seeing in President Obama.

it has NOTHING to do with race. But nice attempt at obfuscation ... you just don't want to face the fact that many of us are saddened and profoundly disappointed with President Obama, the leader. :(

Yeah, as Freud once quipped, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

But thanks for playing "SMEAR my opponent because I've got NOTHING."

14. If President Obama put himself on the line and went to twist arms of all those "paper tiger"
bullies who are holding up his nominations, those appointments would be completed in record time.

Truth is, President Obama needs to dig down deep and find his ASSERTIVENESS, hell, find his AGGRESSIVE instincts. I pray that some where, they EXIST?

However, I fear that President Obama doesn't want to challenge the established norms or do what is necessary to be a truly GREAT LEADER. He just wants to serve his corporate masters and then make a whole shit-load of money like Bill Clinton when he exits from the WH. That's a fucking SHAME and a waste of someone who has so much promise. :(

who barely are able to make ends meet. He has honestly, IMO, LOST TOUCH with those of us who are part of wage-slave America.

I'm not STUPID. I know that a GOP lead Executive Branch would be absolutely horrific.

However, I honestly expected so much more from President Obama. I'm very disappointed. :(

And there were Democrats who voted his way at times, since they are not the party of no.
