1. they have been asking him about it on Morning Joe all morning
and he is being coy and saying he "hasn't decided yet" and he's considering what "donors are telling him to do" or some bs. Like I said in another thread, now in addition to Morning Joe being promo vehicles for Joe and Mika's book, now they are going to really pump up Harold Ford JR for senate. Ugh.

5. New York State will make the final decision
and only DUers who vote in NY will have any say in the matter. The same goes for any state including conservative states which is why DU is always unhappy with dems in conservative states - the people in the state get to vote instead of DUers

23. Tennesseans weren't getting any better than Ford.
Unless you can prove me wrong and show me a true progressive that's won the state since Al Gore ran for the Senate (and I'm not entirely sure he would've qualified under that tag back then either).

40. You're correct, because every member of the TN delegation,
except Stephan Cohen, is a damned Blue Dog, who only lends to the ideology of the repukes. I said we deserve better, and we do. When do I get the privilege of being heavily involved in elections in your state? Do I get to determine that some Blue Dog a$$hole who will sell out your state is the best choice for you?

I distinctly stated that Tennesseans DESERVED better than Harold Ford, Jr.

46. I never said I had any "privilege".
But the fact of the matter is that only Blue Dogs seem electable in Tennessee and I'd rather have Ford as Senator than Lamar Alexander - I'd certainly hope you'd agree on that. Once you prove that you can elect a progressive, that's when you deserve better than Harold Ford, and not one second sooner, frankly.

We'd have to move the the left to get to the center. That message is dead. DEAD. dead. I am sick and tired of moving closer to Republican policies because why? Because the populist message just wasn't effective?

Harold should switch parties before he runs, thanks very much.

21. Gillibrand is too liberal for the DLC
as I tried to advise folks that flipped their wigs over her because she supports 2nd amendment rights.

They'll be trying to stack up centrist all over the place while the left fights over issues that have nothing to do with the corporate pincher move that we're being squeezed with from all directions.

FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!!

34. Harold Ford couldn't take it
If he can't make it there in old New York what will he do? He got his ass tore up in Tennessee. And contrary to his light skin it was not light enough for the political scheme of things down yonder. So he politely moved himself where he would be among st the melting pot of society to get elected.Harold Ford is trying to capitalize on the center right issue so he can give the illusion that he is able to work across party lines. As of late no Democratic member has been able to achieve that. And New Yorkers are not that stupid. It just gets me that they just keep throwing s--t on the wall waiting to see if it will stick.Haven't they realized that its all over their fingers with that one.

35. I remember reading about neocons when I first got online.
Edited on Wed Jan-06-10 06:30 PM by Jamastiene
It said many Blue Dog Democrats were neocons too. I thought it was a conspiracy theory...back then.

In the article, it said Blue Dogs would eventually get so much power in Congress, that they would start taking over normally liberal strongholds. I thought that was a conspiracy theory too...back then.

I don't think it was a conspiracy theory now. It's looking more and more true as time goes on. I wish I could find the link. It was from way back in 1997 or 1998.
