Olbermann is saying the white house is investigating if intelligence wasn't shared on purpose. I suspect it was.

it's also why they're holding up so many appointments of Obama. They don't want his people in charge of certain agencies.

15. if that is true, why didnt they "do anything" to retain power? I was surprised how easily they gave
up their precious power. I think that they never had power, but were puppets of the corporate masters. And the corporate master saw that the public wanted change so they gave them change, but didnt give up power. Of course CorpAmerica would rather have Bush/Cheney but they will settle for Rahm/Obama.

17. There was certainly less corporate money for the GOP in 2006/08
I haven't figured out if that was just because the economy was tanking or if it was a deliberate withdrawal of support -- but you definitely didn't see the massive infusions of corporate cash in 2006/08 that were going to things like the Swiftboat Vets in 2004.

If it was deliberate, it was probably partly tied to the Bush administration's failure to push through Social Security privatization -- which was at the top of the corporate wish list in 2005.

But from the corporate point of view, letting the Democrats win a couple has several advantages. It raps the GOP on the knuckles to bring them to heel. It diverts public anger from Republican flaws and failures to Democratic flaws and failures. And having Democrats in power for a time can also wring some of the waste and corruption out of the system and give the corporations a fresh playing field. (This should probably be called the Zamboni theory of presidential elections.)

22. They knew the election fraud
would have to be too massive to go undetected. So, they propped up McCain and picked a particularly gullible nobody from BFE who had no serious shot at ever being President to run with him. There was never any intent on the part of the corporate side to win (or even steal) this presidential election for the republicans.

They settled because they did not have much of a choice. Further, while the bailouts have been good for them, profiting in the old robber baron way under Bush was far better. The problem was that he let it get out of control. The best parasites do not kill the host. Bush did not get this.

The best management from their perspective keeps the system running while tilting the table in their direction. It is important and most profitable over the long haul to keep the system running, so it is optimal for the tilt to only go so far. Bush did not have the knowledge or discipline.

33. The GOP didn't "give" it away--they just got lazy
Edited on Tue Jan-05-10 10:44 AM by rocktivity
They were vigilant in 2004 because they had to finish putting their plan in place, so they did in Ohio what they did in Florida in 2000. But in '06 and '08, they either didn't realize or couldn't face the fact that they just didn't have enough voters to win by a cheatproof margin. Either that, or they figured that getting LIEberman and Bachman in was enough!

41. I dont agree. Their corporate masters decided to back the DLC/Rahm/Obama ticket.
That's why the "republicans" ran shit-for-brains and what's her name instead of someone that might have actually won. And they will do it again in 2012. CorpAmerica is happy with Pres Obama at this point. The republicans are tools of CorpAmerica.

"See? We told you the Democrat Party is weak on terrorism! This attack proves it. Only we can keep you safe!" And, if there was an attack that caused large losses of life, the bed-wetting majority would fall in behind them lockstep, just like they did after 9-11.

21. Well...Obama has two choices...
He can either play hardball and beat them at their own game---or he can allow them to
treat our democracy like their little Fascist playground and he can watch them rip
his Presidency to shreds.

These people aren't Obama's friends. I hope he's aware of that. They may have
wined and dined him in the beginning--in order to fold him into the fray and tell
him how the game is played.

The niceties stop there with these reptilian freaks.

7. I suspect Keith would appreciate it if you would state ALL the facts
if you're going to reference his program in your OP.

Richard Wolfe reported that the WH is looking into 2 HYPOTHETICAL scenarios:

(I'm paraphrasing here, but this is the gist of what he said.)

1. Information is not being shared among the different security agencies due to turf wars.

2. Information was not shared deliberately because someone wanted someone to fail.

If anyone on Keith's show referred to the Republicans forming a shadow government to foment a terrorist attack, I am not aware of it.

45. Yes, because they already did it during the Bush administration.
Back then it was called 'The Office of Special Plans' where Cheney met frequently with his co-conspirators and out of which came much of the false information about WMDs in Iraq. These people are zealots. They had plans for this country, they found a forever threat with which to scare the American people into compliance. The Cold War threat ended, much to their disgust, so now they have an entity they call Al Queda which, they hope, can never be defeated meaning the US will always be at war.

If anyone still beieves they are not the most dangerous threat to this country, then they have not seen their handiwork in Iraq and Afghanistan, or read accounts of their torture program. Killing people means nothing to them as Iraq's million + dead citizens is a testimony to, all based on lies.

Obama may have thought he could 'get along' with them, but the only way to do that is to be completely obedient to all of their demands, like eg, starting a war in Iran. Closing Guantanamo was probably a slap in the face to them. This was their pride and joy after all.

I don't know how much control Cheney still has within the system, but he is very scared of being prosecuted for his crimes and has probably not felt completely safe since Bush left office. They need 'terror' to keep the public on their side to help justify their crimes torture and pre-emptive war. Letting a terror attack happen is not, imho beyond them. Unless you think that Cheney actually cares anything about American lives. In case anyone does, go back and look at what he was doing while NOLA residents drowned.

I, if I were Obama, would be very concerned about this cabal. I hope he realizes who his friends are, and who his enemies are. I'm sure Cheney despises him. Which under normal circumstances would be a compliment, except that Cheney is dangerous. Ask the families of one million dead Iraqis. When asked once if it bothered him that people would die in the wars he supported, he didn't even pretend, I remember getting chills when he said 'No'. At least that one time he told the truth.

But it's about time we've figured out something's a miss here.

The flip side is just as bad however, when thugs are in office how many Democratic filibusters do you see delaying Republican appointments?
I'm guessing that number is closer to zero than we care to admit.

The plain fact is, if there's money in government, government will eventually be corrupt. I think that's where we're all sitting right now.

....Now how to fix this fricken mess permanently once and for all. No more fricken band aids and patch jobs, we need to be fixing things for good. Yes I understand health care can be fixed later, but the same goes for Nafta and how much better is that?

I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired.

and not sure how to fix the frickin mess either. Money already runs government, the two party system appears unbreakable - due to lack of money and apathy by most people.

There are probably plenty of ways to fix the broken system, but getting the fat cats to give up the gov't the control, that's something I don't know how to fix.
