Delegation from US’s League of Women Voters Visit Cuba
Delegation from US’s League of Women Voters Visit Cuba

Havana, Cuba, Feb 25.- A delegation from the South Florida League of Women Voters (LWV) headed by its president, Deirdre Macnab, met on Thursday in Havana with the president of the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP), Kenia Serrano, in Havana.

Serrano welcomed the group that is visiting Cuba as part of the LWV’s initiative “Know Your Neighbors” and praised their decision to know at first hand about Cuba’s reality and to share experiences with the people of the Caribbean nation.

She explained that women’s integration into society is one of the most important achievements of the Revolution and she highlighted the large presence of women in the Cuban Parliament and ahead of ministries and important national institutions.

During the meeting, the visitors received information on the current process to upgrade the Cuban economic model and on the limitations resulting from the almost 50-year-old US financial, economic and trade blockade of Cuba.

2. Glad to see the FLA League of Women doing something useful.
But, frankly, they need to do some work at home, about the 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY, programming code, owned and controlled by one, private, far rightwing-connected corporation--ES&S, which bought out Diebold--that is used to 'count' all votes in Florida, with virtually no audit/recount controls.

While the League is galavanting around in Cuba, with their "Know Your Neighbors" initiative, democracy in the USA is being dismantled by these 'TRADE SECRET' voting systems. Our vote counting has been PRIVATIZED. It is no longer in the PUBLIC VENUE. And the bad guys who own and control this 'TRADE SECRET' code are clearly going for it--are intent on utterly destroying the "New Deal" and all social and political progress in the U.S. since the "New Deal."

It is so obvious!

So I'd say to the League: Stay home! Clean up your own backyard!
