3 relatives of murdered Mexico activist disappear

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico – Mexician authorities say they are investigating the disappearance of three relatives of a human-rights activist who was assassinated last year in the Juarez valley along the U.S. border with Texas.

Chihuahua state prosecutors spokesman Arturo Sandoval says the office received a complaint that three people related to Josefina Reyes were forced from their car Monday southeast of the border city of Ciudad Juarez.

Demonstrators gathered Tuesday outside the regional office of Mexico's federal attorney general in Ciudad Juarez to protest the disappearance of two Reyes' siblings and her sister-in-law.

Reyes was slain a year ago in Ciudad Juarez. She had led protests against alleged abuses by Mexican soldiers in the Juarez valley.

1. Why would anyone unrec this thread?
I just rec'ed it because I am very interested in the impact of the U.S. "war on drugs" on Mexico. It has been such a horrid disaster in Colombia, where thousands of human rights workers, trade unionists, teachers, community activists, journalists, peasant farmers and others have been murdered by government forces or by their closely tied rightwing death squads, using the U.S. "war on drugs" as cover. In fact, I think it is the real purpose of the U.S. "war on drugs" to create bloodshed and mayhem as cover for political cleansing--terrorizing the advocates of the poor and decapitating community and leftist leadership.

My rec produced a rec total of "0." So someone went to the trouble of unrec'ing this straightforward story about murder and 'disappearances' in Mexico. I really cannot imagine a motive for unrec'ing this article--unless it be the murderers and 'disappearers' themselves or someone paid to 'disappear' such stories, perhaps by U.S. "war on drugs" war profiteers. It's baffling.

In any case, what I see is that the U.S. "war on drugs" is turning Mexico into Colombia.

2. Wasn't me, I've yet to unrec a thread here.
I have rec'd threads I suspected were undergoing an unrec campaign, though, and I was correct in that suspicion. I don't usually even click rec or unrec.
