Pudreval is just getting worse and worse!
The country has been seriously disturbed since the news of the food left to rot in containers belonging to PDVAL, a PDVSA subsidiary, and other government agencies, was first made public. So far, there are reports of 130,000 tons of rotting food found in several different regions around the country (with more popping up every day), at ports, in warehouses and at distribution centers controlled by the government and the Cuban "advisors."

The most shocking piece of information found in the document is that food products for which surcharges were paid never even reached their destination: the nation's poor who shop at the increasingly under-stocked Mercals.

One of a long list of examples of malfeasance mentioned in the report in the case of food purchases by the different PDVSA subsidiaries between November 2007 and June 2008, was the surcharges paid, totaling an estimated $54 million. According to the report, in the case of a single order for 5,000 metric tonnes of food products, Bariven and PDVSA Services, INC (PSI) apparently paid an extra $10 million when they failed to consider an offer of $2,950 per metric tonne, choosing instead a supplier charging $4,958 per metric tonne.

The Chavezistas are doing a great job of managing food, just wait till they get their hands on the rest of the economy.
