Venezuelan FM meets with Paraguayan President to deal with Venezuela-Colombia deadlock
The charges made by the government of Colombian President Álvaro Uribe for guerrilla camps in Venezuelan territory unleashed the conflict

Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicolás Maduro asked Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo for his support to approve "a political settlement with Colombia, so that we can have a South America in peace," Maduro told reporters.

Shortly after, Maduro flew to Montevideo and met with Uruguayan President José Mujica to express "his government concern about the diplomatic crisis with Colombia."

"The war process that Colombia has had to face has one solution only: heading for a process of political negotiation," Maduro told journalists in Asunción.

He refused to take any questions, but warned in advance that his country "will not tolerate any attack."

The minister added that Colombia should "seek peace by political means and in this process, the words and accompaniment of South America are most important, so that Colombian brothers are able, in the years to come, to build on peace. There is the historical timing to make it true."
