Feliz Navidad, corazones.
I'm going to burn some food for my mami and then we're going to go serve downtown. Other than that, it will be quiet here.

Thank you for everything you put up this year. To you and your families.

1. Really admire the energy, spirit, intelligence you bring to D.U., EFerrari.
Undoubtedly it translates exactly as well wherever you are.

A quiet Christmas can be just what the doctor ordered to give you back some much needed R & R.

Was just thinking today how odd it is to see the bigger and bigger buildup to Christmas we see every year, now starting after Haloween, in some cases, and it gets louder, crazier, more intense every day until December 26, and then we get a total vacuum.

It all needs to be rethought, refigured, defanged.

Surely appreciate the informed-by-choice presence you bring to this place. Muchas gracias.

2. You know, Judi Lynn, the information you bring to DU
is so invaluable and so appreciated. It's so very difficult to cull good information from our media and beyond and you do an amazing job of wading through all the flotsam and coming back here with the important stories.

Thank you.

9. I'm more like a cratered Alice in Wonderland here, Peace Patriot,
Edited on Fri Dec-25-09 03:58 PM by Judi Lynn
having discovered a small number of people with the "brain," "heart," and courage which only appear in people who are evolved, by nature, intelligence, by hard work, by conscience.

Very much like a deficient, awkward, foolish sojourner in the company of higher beings.

11. Yikes. Wrong image conjured. I meant "Dorothy" following the yellow brick road.
I was jarred awake in the kitchen when it struck me I have two stories mashed together.

Sorry for the silliness. I was rushing. I regret embarrassing myself!

12. Here's a coupon good for a year's worth of silliness.
You've earned in spades here, Judi Lynn, with your hard work and dedication that we all have benefited from.

13. Can really use that, EFerrari. I've been burning for for over 10 years since I learned how stupid
I'd been up to that point, simply assuming what I read in the corporate media and heard from others was the truth. It just took one event, the grotesque spectacle in Miami of the little boy, Elian Gonzalez, ichand all that rage boiling up which cried out for further inquiry.

I learned the kid's drunken granduncle, Lazaro, had been back and forth to Cuba, and had met the smaller Elian Gonzalez living with his dad then. Elian Gonzalez' father, Miguel, slept in his own car so Lazaro could sleep in his bed during his stay, and Lazaro spent his days fishing, and his night hanging out in the local hotel bars. What an odd visitor!

Once I learned these same people who stood on camera, with their faces red with rage, snarling at the reporters, like Ninoska Perez Castellon (I was horrified about her nastiness, snottiness, enough to find out who she is, she was the spokeswoman for the Cuban American National Foundation which was a sponsor for Luis Posada Carilles, and others) and remember that super creepy mayor of Miami "Crazy Joe" Carrollo?

Like Spanish Nazis. (Ninoska goes wild if people attempt to compare her Cuban community to a "minority." She informs them they are in no way a minority here. (I think it's racist, as the establishment Cuban Spanish were/are extremely
nut job racist, just like USA Southerners.)

The door opened out immediately to a WORLD of information we've NOT been respected enough to be told in the US. I'm going to have to overcome years and years of total ignorance, and my own stupidity for assuming I had a good idea of what had been happening regarding US policy.

What you have shared here has broken through barriers of my ignorance for me, and given depth, and meaning to things I'm just starting to learn about. I used to read your comments if I saw them long before this L.A. forum was established, read with great interest about the line of relationship in your background leading to people totally a part of history in their country, who were there during deep conflict when such major steps were taken. Admire your grandmother's ability to keep her identity, her beliefs, her conscience, and her courage, and her creativity and energy in doing something about giving voice to the truth.

There's so much going on, and huge chances may be on the way, really good, or just goddawful. I'm so glad we have this meeting place to pool resources, discuss, and experience these things together.

Thank you for taking the time and having the idea for this thread. Very warming, appreciate it so much. :grouphug:

10. Mika, you have ALWAYS been so unflinchingly focused, direct, aware,
and patient with people, never compromising.

When I came here you seemed to be the lone voice educating, informing, encouraging people to start questioning what they really know, and to start looking for the truth.

I've seen busloads of idiots attempt to combat you and disappear without a ripple. Their ignorance pulled them down, and their lack of discipline held them under.

You were the first one here to have a real grasp of US policy, history, actions with countries south of our border. I saw as people started focusing on the vacuum in their own REAL information on the Caribbean and Latin American countries some fell away, retreated to the ignorance cultivated by propaganda-fed culture, but some started looking into it, and doing their own research, and were joined by people who also have had personal experience themselves. It's remarkable having watched the progress, and evolution right here!

You have intimate knowledge of your subjects. It shines through for those of us who've been lucky enough to have read all your communications in sight. You are consitant because you are working from real facts learned in person and from extensive research.

Thank you so much for bringing all the reasons people could use to encourage them to WAKE UP and come to life about truly VITAL, really moral issues.

Hope you won't disappear into Ecuador, etc. without a trace, Mika! We support your deeply honorable goals you pursue, as well.

7. Feliz Navidad to you as well, and to everyone here! You give me hope!
May the beautiful candles of peace, democracy and social justice become eternal flames in Latin America, never to be extinguished again!

And may the good people of the USA achieve the same, and beat our swords into plowshares!
