1. This Rotters article contains a devious lie! Not unusual for Rotters (i.e., Reuters)
but we still need to be alert to all the lies and brainwashing. Here it is:

"The United States and Brazil have been pushing for Zelaya’s return to power but his fate remains uncertain after the Honduran Congress voted on Wednesday not to allow him to finish his term that ends in January."

The United States has been pushing for a RIGHTWING COUP in Honduras from Day One, when the US military at the US military based on Soto Cano, Honduras, sat on its collective butt while the plane carrying the kidnapped president of the country landed there for refueling and then spirited the president out of the country, in a putsch against the ELECTED government, and in violation of a specific provision of the Honduran Constitution forbidding the forced exile of any Honduran citizen. The US embassy admitted knowing of the coup days before. And the US did NOTHING.

And from that point on US policy has been delay, delay, delay, keeping the junta in power, permitting massive violations of human and civil rights including some one hundred murders of anti-coup activists, and thousands of tear-gassings, beatings, arbitrary arrests, imprisonments, rapes, tortures and threats of every kind, including shutdowns of the news media, job firings, home invasions and the government creating "lists' of dissidents for current and future punishment. This illegitimate and criminal government, with the full support of the US, then conducted a farce of an election under martial law!

The US just ripped a big tear in the rule of law and democracy in Latin America, and threw Obama's stated policy of "peace, respect and cooperation" in Latin America out the window.

To put "the United States" and "Brazil" in the same sentence, as somehow pursuing the same policy on Honduras, is absurd. Nothing could be further from the truth. And these assholes at Rotters know that very well.
