Brazil promotes deepwater port in Espírito Santo

Brazil's federal government and Espírito Santo state authorities are in talks with local and foreign investors to build an US$468mn port terminal in Vitória city, according to a release by state port authority Codesa.

The plan is to implement a deepwater container terminal in the Ponta do Tubarão area.

The natural 18 metre draft would allow large cargo ships to dock without the need to build bridges.

This is an ideal depth, according to private port terminals association (ABTP) president Wilen Manteli.
