High-faluting diplomatic mission to Honduras fizzles out

For all intents and purposes it's all over. Nothing was resolved regarding the return of Zelaya to the presidency or the ouster of the de facto regime. What happens now is anybody's guess; Barahona just said the result was "the duck shooting at the shotgun."

Final declaration says only that:

-- Working commissions from both sides be set up to keep negotiating on the San Jose Accord that calls for Zelaya to return to the presidency and for the restoration of constitutional guarantees by the golpista regime.

-- Living conditions should be improved at the Brazilian Embassy.

Golpe de Estado en Honduras
TeleSUR _ Hace: 02 horas

1. They walked into the cage of the gorillas

Guess because the total failure of the diplomatic mission to Honduras is not in English (AP, Reuters etc) it did not happen.

The five foreign ministers, three vice ministers, reps of UN, OAS, Shannon etc all flew down to Tegucigalpa yesterday into the cage of the goriletti.

They smiled and when the goriletti saw their teeth, the golpista-in-chief thought he was going to be bitten. Goriletti attacked. So today the diplomats skedaddled out of Tegucigalpa with their rabos (tails) between their legs.

They left Zelaya in the Brazilian Embassy to fend for himself.

This is Quilapayun, the Chilean group singing at the Moneda just days before the 1973 golpe against Allende in Chile. This is the group that gave the song to the world. Reminds me of what is happening to Zelaya.

2. It's all meant as the appearance of a meeting, no doubt.
Just waiting out the clock.

Hope fate will have a lesson ahead for these a-holes.
