Arias at a public ceremony this morning before announcement at an urgent news conference tonight.

He becomes the first world leader diagnosed with the swine flu. He is under quarantine at his home until at least next Monday.

Vice minister of health Ana Morice said Arias is among the those "at high risk" because he is asthmatic. But she said his state of health was stable.

As of today, 28 people have died of AHINI in Costa Rica. The latest was a pregnant woman, 40, who died yesterday in a hospital. Doctors did a C-Section and were able to save the baby boy, who showed no signs of the flu, doctors said.

2. No joke, and those journalists must be dipping their microphones

and tape recorders in alcohol or something.

3. I'll bet the stress he's been having the last few weeks certainly contributed to lowered immunity
and made him more vulnerable.

He looked absolutely miserable immediately after the coup and his attempt to arbitrate, after which he got his ass handed to him by Micheletti. He looked so very down, depressed, and full of dread.

Hillary should never butted in and dumped this in his lap, when it should have gone to the O.A.S. in the first place.

Really hoping he'll pass through this undamaged, and maybe he can offer some input by phone or something soon.

Who would have expected this thing would have had Arias standing by, being totally engaged for well over a month with this hellish power grab by the parasitic nazis in Honduras? It would take its toll on anyone. No doubt he was far more susceptible due to exhaustion, low energy levels, frustration, anxiety.
