Bolivia leads South America
Yesterday the Bolivian Central Bank (BCB) published its half-year report. You can go look for yourself right here, but what you'll find is an economy that will grow by 4% this year (the first half of 2009 saw 2.1% growth acording to head honcho at the BCB, Gabriel Loza, mainly due to the productive sectors). Loza sez:

"The perspective is that growth in the Bolivian economy will continue, we are talking of rates around 4% and therefore Bolivia will not suffer a recession as in other regional countries."

Bolivia also has an economy with inflation reeled in to just 2.1% (again, thanks largely to wise economic policy) and international currency reserves at all-time highs. Not only that, but Bolivia's exchange rate has, in the words of Loza:

"...has avoided unnecessary exchange volatility. Our exchange rate, which is not fixed but a regimen of administered exchange, has shown a moderated, stable and non-volatile behaviour."

Yet again, this is why you never hear about the Bolivian economy in English language media. It's going far too well, y'see. And all this stability and strength has its roots in one, single policy decision from the government of Evo Morales: Nationalize hydrocarbons. And another smart thing that Evo has done is to leave the financial experts to run the finances and not stick his nose in, as the guy knows what he's good at and what he's not good at.

I'm evermore convinced that Evo scares the hell out of the blue-eyed whiteys more than Hugo could ever manage. He's not changing the rules but doing something far, far more dangerous and subversive: He's beating them at their own game.

1. This is simply wonderful. I'm coming back to read it again, and have already filed it away
for future reference and for sharing, too.

What a great bit of news. You can be sure it's going to get almost no play here as the President of Bolivia is a leftist, serving the interests of an abused, beaten down, wildly mistreated majority in his country, helping them to stand back up after centuries of racist hatred has plundered, raped, stolen from them, murdered, massacred, tortured them, all the way into the present, another massacre just last year.

In time, our corporate media will have no choice but to acknowledge unavoidable truths about Latin America and the Caribbean. They can't keep trying to fool us forever successfully.

This is PRIME NEWS. Thanks.

2. Bolivian Indians in historic step

Bolivia has become the first country in the history of South America to declare the right of indigenous people to govern themselves.

The country's first indigenous president, Evo Morales, launched his so-called "indigenous autonomy" policy in the eastern lowlands.

Peasant and indigenous communities will be entitled to vote for more autonomy in referendums next December.

"Your president, your companion, your brother Evo Morales might make mistakes but will never betray the fight started by our ancestors and the fight of the Bolivian people," he said.

Mr Morales has championed Bolivia's indigenous people, who for centuries were banished to the margins of society.

3. It took someone like Evo Morales to get elected, someone who has been through hell & didn't give up,
even after being thrown in jail for protest, and having been beaten wildly and left for dead, he didn't give up, kept moving forward.

Bolivians are fortunate to have this strong President, companion, brother working with them, instead of what they have known up until now: someone working to exploit them, drain them of their entire life's labor, energy, while paying them next to absolutely NOTHING for their hard work, while holding them up to ridicule at every turn, making certain they never got a chance to learn to read, write, become as educated as the worthless trash which descended from the infading parasites.

Amazing results, amazing time for Bolivia. Hope it will continue until life is far, far better than it has been.
