Honduran Demonstrators Block Central Avenue in Tegucigalpa

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 29 (acn) Demonstrators from the Frente Nacional contra
el golpe de Estado de Honduras (National Front against the Coup in
Honduras) blocked a central avenue in Tegucigalpa with a peaceful
demonstration on Wednesday, on the 32nd day after the coup against
constitutional President Manuel Zelaya.

The demonstrators assembled in the morning in front of the Francisco
Morazán Pedagogical National University, and then marched to the Armed
Forces Boulevard, one of the mains arteries in the capital city.

Labor union leader and independent presidential candidate Carlos
Humberto Reyes reported that similar demonstrations are being held in
other Honduran areas, mainly to the west and in the central department
of Olancho.

According to the Prensa Latina news agency, Reyes affirmed that, among
other actions, the popular movement is getting ready for intense
activities on Thursday and Friday, when a community protest of the state
sector backed by a teachers’ strike and the blocking of roads will take
place.

Since the June 28th coup against President Manuel Zelaya, the Honduran
people have been demonstrating on the streets, demanding his return.
