New Violations of De Facto Regime in Honduras
HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 28 (acn) Organizations for people’s protection in Honduras have denounced cases of genocide committed by Army and Police forces in this Central American country, when one month has elapsed since the military coup d´état.
Andres Pavon, president of the Human Rights Committee in Honduras, told media outlets that in the face of flagrant violations, they lodged an appeal against the curfew before the Supreme Court of Justice, on the grounds of unconstitutionality.
Pavon pointed out that the presentation of the proceedings before the highest judicial authority is aimed at preventing the coup perpetrators to claim ignorance of the acts of genocide that the so-called defenders of order have committed and are still committing in Honduras.
The curfew violates over 22 articles of the Honduran Constitution, as well as the rights to food and free movement, said the law expert. He added that the appeal seeks to stop the continuation of infringements and a foreseeable holocaust in the border city of El Paraiso. Located at some 10 kilometers from the Honduran border with Nicaragua, El Paraiso was the place where a 23 year old mason, Pedro Magdiel Muñoz, was found dead and with signs of torture, about 100 meters away from the spot where he had been apprehended by the police, which is repressing the people.
Several entities, like the Center for Justice and International Law, warned about the arbitrary detentions that have been taking place after the June 28th military coup that toppled and sent constitutional president Jose Manuel Zelaya out of the country.
