The translation on the last part of this article is a bit garbled, but you get the idea.

05 de junio de 2009, 10:03Imagen activaSan Salvador, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) The new Salvadorian government stressed the coming academic year will be free for students, who will also receive complementary uniforms.

The Vice President and Education Minister Salvador Sanchez Ceren stated that about 500,000 students will have better food in their schools.

This project will mean an outlay of US$8.5 million so that the country can fulfil the promise the Republic's President Mauricio Funes on June 1 after being sworn in.

Parallel to this is the investment of nearly US$150 million to repair and restore those education centers. Some of them have been affected by strong winds, the ministry said.

Sanchez Ceren announced these two measures Thursday, as part of his effort to immediately improve education conditions in the country.

The Salvadorian government put into force some hours ago the charging for care in state hospitals. This decision satisfies a popular demand aimed at ending abuses and inequality in public health.

1. This will make all the difference in the world for these little people's futures.
Sweeping changes underway in public health, too.

Looking forward to more info. Best hope and wishes for the success of El Salvador's new elected President's plans.
