Joe Biden gaffe update: VP prefers Irish poets over US! Gasp!


Then, at the end of his 20-minute or so oration, the voluble vice president quoted Seamus Heaney (see photo): "History teaches us not to hope on this side of the grave."

Biden could have stopped there. But in yet another incredible gaffe that will offend two or three poetry lovers, on both sides of the Atlantic, he added: "I quote Irish poets all the time because they're the best poets."

tongue-in-cheek humor? maybe... but was it really necessary - or did the writer just enjoy adding to the gaffe meme.

every day and one item is "Latest Biden Gaffe". It there is no gaffe they're required to make one up.

and they've been paying him back ever since. Now it has just become a habit to dis Joe.

They seem to pick on certain people who don't ever deserve it and then ignore aspects of other politicians and public figures that are far more deserving of their wrath. I just don't get it.

I had forgotten their shabby treatment of Al Gore. Of course, there is a big difference between focusing on Gore's stiffness than Biden's gaffes. Gore WAS rather stiff, but they infer that Joe isn't terribly smart, which is very offensive.

I've noticed there have been less gaffe references lately and I think it's because it doesn't really play all that well with audiences. Of course the references aren't news-worthy, but that's never stopped the MSM from reporting on non-news stories before.
