Hey dog lovers.
Don't go see Marley and Me.

I thought it was going to be a comedy.
There wasn't a dry eye in the packed theatre.

1. Really?
I thought it was a comedy too. The trailers make it look like a rather generic comedy.

2. Marley gets old at the end, and it's very drawn out.
Totally played on your emotions.
Not only did he have to be put to sleep (I had to relive putting my Springer Spaniel down)
he died from the same thing my Border Collie did - a twisted stomach.
And at the end, Owen Wilson talked about how a dog doesn't care what you look like, how rich or poor you are, this and that, they love you anyway. It was very drawn out, I wasn't prepared for that.
Didn't even have any kleenex in my purse. My daughter and I went thru the cheap napkins from our popcorn long before we could regain composure. The theatre was literally packed and everyone was crying. It was that emotional.

The only person who should see it is Jennicut, so she knows that she is not the only one who ended up with a bad dog :) The first part of the movie IS funny.

Starbuck looked like he was enjoying Christmas :)

Tobi enjoyed Christmas too. She got a new toy and some treats from Santa.

3. OMG
There isn't the slightest hint in the trailers that the movie went that route! My sister had a dog who had the same problem with her stomach - she spent a lot of time at the vet, but finally passed away a couple of years ago.

Tobi looks like she's having a great time. Starbuck was exhausted once she got home and for the first time ever went straight to her kennel on her own and crashed.

Needless to say, the outfit didn't last long! She got an awful lot of presents for a dog. What a bunch of suckers we all are.

4. I wonder how many parents took their little kids to see that movie.

Starbuck looks so cute!
I once tried to dress Tobi and she went ballistic :P

What did the kitties get from Santa?

5. I was thinking the same thing
There should have been some warning that this wasn't just a zany comedy.

The outfit didn't last too long - if this is the way they are with their puppy, I dread being around them when they have their first child!

Kitties got some ribbons and paper, though that wasn't nearly as exciting as the garbage they keep bringing to the yard; socks, gloves, baby hat, toys, rags, papers, etc. It is hilarious and I have no idea where they're getting this stuff. I got Cortana, my son's cat, some little toy mice that she loves. She used to be my cat, but had to go live with my son because of the allergies.

Her favorite Christmas present was a long break from the DOG!!!

7. When she showed up
at our door in 2004, she was a scrawny, pathetic little thing. I figured she was probably between six and nine months old. It was her friendly personality that saved her life, as she was vocal and persistent. We were trying to find her a home, but it turned out she was pregnant.

She had four kittens, three that looked just like her.

She is a very together cat (except when it comes to hyper puppies) and my yard has been a cat magnet ever since!

8. That picture of Starbuck and Cortana could win a prize.
Actually - they all could :)

9. I think the last one
would make a cute LOL pic, but can't think of a good caption. My son's fiance took the two with Cortana. She's a real photo-nut which is really cool. She is documenting her entire life in photos!

Yesterday I heard a dog barking. I looked out the window and there were two puppies in my backyard. I called them and they ran through the fence to the front. I went to the front and there were THREE of them, cutest little white and brown beagle-like puppies. I went after them and they trotted down the street like they were on some grand adventure. I wish I'd gotten pictures of them, but it all happened so fast. Fortunately they all went up the driveway to one of the houses.

10. Another cute pic deserving a caption.
Looks like they are negotiating which one is going to play with the toy.

something like stop right there, put your hands up... from the cat or not me, I didn't do it! from the dog

13. That seems to be a common affliction with Border Collies
My BIL has a BC mix, and Kimi has been near death 2-3x because of this condition. WTF? :wtf: She's too cute, one black eye and a blue one.

11. A little late
But,

I had read the book, so I knew the ending would be a tear jerker. It is a great book, read it cover-to-cover, couldn't put it down. The Author, John Grogan adopted one of the puppies used in the movie, which turned out to be a story in and of its self (see the Dec 22 entry).

http://www.johngroganbooks.com/blog/index.html

At the movie, we had two obnoxious teenage girls behind us. The were texting and laughing uncontrollable at unfunny moments. At the end of the movie they started to just wail, and I mean sobbing, wailing etc. I know it was sad, and I've held two dogs and our old cat in the last two years as they have slipped away, so I was sniffling. But, those girls made me laugh, my sister and I just looked at each other and snorted our laughter under our sniffles!

Happy New Year!
