Your thoughts?
I was reading an article in my paper today about Palin and how the gop is getting concerned about her. The article ended by saying how she has knocked the attention away from Biden, and how lucky it is for Biden because no one is noticing his gaffes, and they printed one.
For the sake of this conversation, I'm not going to tell you which one because that's not where I want this thread to go.

But - it made me think. Is it time for Biden to address this in his stump speeches to start shutting up the pundits' pieholes? He is so good at self-depreciating humor and I have heard him address this before. It is getting to the point where it is ridiculous, his gaffes are the only thing the msm seems to cover. He has this reputation and that's what they focus on.
You can be sure this week we will be hearing people like Matthews say "Will Biden make a gaffe at Thursday nite's debate?", nevermind the numerous gaffes that will come out of Palin's mouth.

I couldn't help but think after reading that article that Biden needs to address this head on.
Even if he constantly says - I know I have a reputation for gaffes, but I am not a scripted politician and because of that I sometimes mispeak. If you'd rather listen to someone who recites talking points, sorry that's not me.

So - whatd'ya think?

I'm just getting sick and tired of hearing this about Joe on a daily basis, especially since they are talking about gaffes and ignoring everything else he says.

1. Faux news already brought up that crap this morning but we all know how they are
They said Biden will make a major gaffe during the debate. I don't think so. I saw him debate during the primaries before I really started paying attention to him (I know, I was stupid) and I remember thinking he did very good at those debates. In fact, I thought he was one of the better debaters. I think all Joe needs to do is win the debate and then anything else "negative" about him will be negated because he has such a good understanding of foreign policy and Palin sees Russia from her house. Palin will look so stupid in comparison his "gaffes" won't matter. I don't think he needs to say anything about it and just let his performance speak for itself.

3. Chicken little types, there is always something wrong even if Dems are up 5 points are more
I think Joe will do just fine in the debate. He has debated not just in the primaries but tons of times to even win his Senate seat over and over again. I like that the people that think he will have a major gaffe will come away awfully disappointed.

4. Totally agree -
and I think he should have run with that Obama America one, too. Stop - say "whoa, I just said Obama America -- I like that!" then gone on.

Anyway, I'm SO in agreement with you that I actually posted a thread here on it. Address it head on. They're only gaffes, for the love of God, and the media makes them out to be something that could seriously affect his ability to be VP. I wrote a response to McCafferty on it, too -- that if a few media-perceived gaffes - and some misrepresented out-of-context quotes were enough to discount a true public servant who has spent his career helping women, veterans, combat soldiers, etc., then this country was in dire trouble.

5. And what gets me, is his gaffes are not even that bad.
Joe needs to get rid of this unfair label.

McCain and Palin are the gaffe winners, not Biden.
