5. Great posts, P!
I'm bookmarked the David Brooks article to read tomorrow to get my mind off of waiting for The Message. Some very complimentary responses!

7. What article in the NYT?
I've read so many in the last couple of days, they're all blurring in my tiny brain.

9. David Brooks
That is the article quoted in the thread. I'd gotten it in my Google alerts and read it before I came over here.

12. Finish the Carl Hiaasen book I'm reading, maybe.
Except when I'm up, out of bed, I'm sitting here. So I'll have to read/do stuff online.

13. We've had CNN on for most of the day
I'll be glad when the Olympics are over so I can switch back to MSNBC. Wolf Blitzer drives me nuts! That monotone voice makes me sleepy. Why on earth is he their star anchor?

14. Maybe because he's been with them for so long?
I remember when he used to report live from Baghdad during the first Gulf War --

Speaking of which -- have you ever seen that movie (it was made for HBO) called Live From Baghdad?

If not, I'd highly highly highly recommend it. It is pretty close to the true story of the CNN crew there when the bombs started dropping. Fascinating and really well done. Here's info: (I rarely get this excited about a movie.)

Anyway, Wolf seems like such an tool now. A tool and a fool.

15. I don't think that matters at CNN
They'll let someone go in a heartbeat if there is a ratings issue. He not only is annoying, he's not even very likable.

I do remember him from the Gulf War days and yes, I saw that movie - excellent. HBO makes exceptional movies.

16. That's right - I remember when Aaron Brown disappeared.
Must be the ratings. How he gets good ones is inexplicable to me.

17. I liked Aaron Brown
though Paula Zahn was no great loss. Now everything is flashy and eye-catching, but they repeat the same news over and over again as if there are only three or four stories all day. Of course, not everyone can get a Keith or a Rachel!

18. Aaron Brown was from Seattle, and we were sorry to see him leave (to head
to CNN). He was really popular in town.

In full disclosure, Lou Dobbs was from Seattle, too. He was okay (all he did was report the news) but he didn't have that je ne sais quoi that Aaron Brown did. I don't think anybody noticed when he wasn't there anymore.

19. Aaron Brown
struck me as more old school and he instilled a feeling of trust. Guess he just wasn't flashy enough for CNN, but Wolf isn't dynamic at all, so I don't get it.

I can see why he was popular in Seattle.

8. Good thread
I'm just going to ignore the same old naysayers though. If they don't like him, then they don't like him. So what.
