2. oh well, missed a big chunk of it but back again. My dog demanded a walk
Edited on Sat Aug-16-08 07:50 PM by JoeIsOneOfUs
and he had a rough evening so he gets what he wants. (A pit bull from down the street charged at us and my dog let him know in clear terms that he was not welcome in our yard acting like that. I've known some great pit bulls, and have friends who devote their lives to rescuing them, but damn, I hate this one's owners - this family lets theirs run through the neighborhood offleash along with 2 more dogs. Sigh)

3. NO dogs should be allowed to roam around off-leash (unless it's in your
fenced yard.) For THEIR safety as well as for people.

Pit Bulls are iffy - their owners may be sorry some day they took such a laissez faire approach.

I certainly am opinionated for someone who's never had a dog :7

4. to be fair, one of my dogs was off-leash at the moment.
as was my next-door neighbor's dog. But she was supervising her dog, who comes when called, and I was supervising my dog, who comes when called (mostly anyway), in the yard between my landlord's house and their house. My dog who won't come when called was on a flexi-leash. When I heard them coming, my off-leash dog was by my door, and my leashed dog was on the patio, when the others came charging toward us.

Zillions of people cut through this yard border to get to a field and trail beyond to walk their dogs. I think they all think it's town property (the old railroad bed now walking trail is) rather than private property.

The other dog owners live 3 houses away and just release their pack unannounced - 3 aggressive dogs who will run into other dogs' yards and growl, and who do NOT respond to commands. One day I had put my dogs in the car, went back in to get something, and came out to find my dogs barking and jumping in the car while the pit bull was jumping up on and scratching my car. I ran out and the owner was being low-key and talking and I said JUST GET YOUR DOG AWAY FROM MY CAR! They also consider the neighborhood their cleanup-free bathroom and territory to mark.

Anyway, long rant but one more for the reason-to-move pile.

My dog is not very openly affectionate, but clearly when his owner and younger brother and our apartment was threatened, he took matters into his own hands. He's never started a fight (barking at other dogs aside), but he has also never backed down from one.

6. I'm guessing -- correct me if I'm wrong so I can lecture you --
that you don't open the door, let the dogs out, then close the door and stay inside. Do you let them run around the neighborhood on their own?

7. nope. In general that family has one person walking somewhere
ahead or behind, occasionally calling out feeble commands. :eyes:

5. I'm watching it right now.
He is asking Obama one divisive question at another.

Obama seems a bit uncomfortable.

8. questions are similar (I won't say identical) for McCain
the effect is very different though - careful thought and spirituality vs. checking off boxes, and WAR!!!

10. Now I am watching McCain.
I can't stand the man, I don't agree with anything he says, but I will say he is much more at ease than Obama was.
Obama seemed tenative in his answers.

11. As I said in another thread
McCain was better than I expected, probably because his answers seemed very well rehearsed. I didn't see one spontaneous moment. He was catering to the religious right and probably was very successful.

Obama did very well. I agree he seemed tentative. He does that a lot, but the answers were good.

12. I missed the very beginning.
Was McCain allowed to sit in the green room & listen to Obama's section?

13. No. Reverend Rick assured Obama that McCain was sequestered in a
Cone of Silence because the would be asked the same questions.

McCain made a joke about trying to listen through the wall.

14. But numerous people noticed
that McCain seemed to know the questions before Rick even asked, as if he had memorized everything.
