From an article on VP possibilities:
• Sen. Joe Biden, 65, of Delaware.

With 36 years in the Senate and much of it spent on the Foreign Relations Committee, Biden has long experience in foreign policy circles. "He'd rather be secretary of State, but he'd accept it," said a Biden adviser who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Biden also acquitted himself well in his brief and ultimately unsuccessful bid for the nomination himself, notably curbing his tendency to talk too much. Downside: His muzzle could fall off.

1. I don't think that Obama would ask Biden to be Veep.
Biden doesn't fit in with his new politics image. After all - this election is about change - not experience.
Plus I heard Obama recently say that he doesn't need anyone to help him with foreign policy.

2. If Obama gets the nom,
I think he'd pretty much have to get someone with more experience on the ticket in order to help balance his relative lack of it.

3. yeah, that annoyed me when Obama said that about foreign policy
Let's hope (no pun intended) he's more careful than that about his actual choice of VP and Sec of State.

5. I read somewhere that he's
getting a lot of advice/input from Joe, so it's reassuring he knows WHO to go to for guidance. And that he listens! As opposed to our current Commander in Chief.

7. Actually, I think he would ask. And remember, only about half the Dem
constituency seems to be about change. The other half would have Clinton redux. Joe would be a sound, respectable, acceptable middle ground that would bring balance. Adding just the right balance of experience to his ticket might relax voters otherwise made ill at ease by "so much" change and "so little" experience offered by an Obama presidency. Maybe Obama's acting so cocky in foreign policy because he's been listening to Joe and knows he'll continue to listen. Obama's foreign policy talk has become increasingly Bidenite over the past couple of months, don't you agree? Of course, any rational individual would come around to Joe's positions sooner rather than later, in my opinion.

8. I like that explanation - if you take lessons from Joe, you WILL become an expert!
And yes, I think their foreign policy approach is similar - avoid threatening talk, work with allies, have at least dialogue with non-allies.

9. Also, check out this new opinion from a former political adviser to
Trent Lott. Joe's not just a good, qualifying choice. It's logical, Captain.
