2. Just saw some responses
I went to bed after I responded last night.....just read some of the responses. I have to wonder if any read the article. In fairness the article wasn't real detailed and I could see how some might miss the point.
Maybe I'm in a pissy mood this morning.....I read some of those ....and I thought what the fuck??
It's almost like they blame Joe for the war.....like there is no way to fix anything, why try. I'm sorry I can't be such a defeatist. I think as a country we screwed things up over there and we need to do what we can to help them fix it. I can't even imagine just looking at those people and saying.....sorry....see ya....good luck with what's left of your future. We have a moral imperative as a country to do what is right.

I'm having a hard time putting into words how freaking pissed off I am this morning...I give up!!
Have a good day!!!!!!!!!!!

3. Don't even bother gately, I was appalled by the Kosovo threads
the other night. I can't believe the shit that is spewing out of supposed Democrats' mouths regarding countries that are struggling for Democracy (except Iraq, that I do not support)

Unflippin-real.

4. I just gave it a k/r
gateley - don't let this stuff get you upset.
People don't understand the importance of what Biden was saying and
there are going to be alot of people at DU that are going to be shocked if either Hillary or probably Obama get in the WH. They both have said that they want to get the troops out of Iraq and into Pakistan/Afghanistan to finish the war we should be in.

I watched a hearing that Biden held on Afghanistan a few weeks ago.
(only I would find that fascinating :P) But the consensus was that things in Afghanistan are going
very poorly - and alot of the experts Biden invited to speak were on the left side of politics.

I totally agree with 48percenter - it made me soooo mad to see the people bashing Biden over Kosovo.
Seriously - we finally went into a country to stop genocide and rape camps. These are the same people that scream that we are not doing more in Darfur. Sigh.

It's just one more example of how DU does not represent the real world :)

5. Boy, was I in a MOOD last night. I think every other word was 'fuck' and
I had a permanent scowl on my face.

In much better spirits today - maybe because it's gray, rainy and cool and I feel like I'm home in Seattle. And I'm heading out the door to get coffee and a good 'ol Bojangles biscuit, so I'll be in an even better mood when I get back.

Thanks, guys! :grouphug:

8. Ahhh... Bojangles - where do I begin?
Bojangles is a Chicken and Biscuit chain very big in NC, and I'm guessing throughout the South. They make their biscuits from scratch all day long. These are not the Pillsbury-in-a-tube biscuits I had while growing up! These are the REAL THING and they're amazing! When my friends come to visit they're blown away, and that's all they can talk about - Bojangles biscuits (and red hot dog - 'Carolina Packers' - but that's another story).

Today I had an egg, bacon and cheese one. It was a tossup between that and one with sausage gravy (also to die for).

9. Yes!
And being a true Seattleite, I look down my nose at Starbucks!

I had an espresso concession for a few years and actually developed a palate. I'm a coffee SNOB!

10. Darn, gateley,
I failed to look at earlier biden post due to family stuff (brother visiting,) AND I'm drinking warmed over starbucks; hope you'll speak to me, someday!

As to what folks say, I'm afraid b.s. about Joe reflects our messed up system; folks call General Clark a war monger, etc. etc. for his outstanding conduct of Kosovo events.

So maybe I'll hang with bro before he leaves here, thinking of Joe and everyone here. Thanks for all you do.

11. That's okay, elleng. It wasn't as big a deal as I made it out to be -- as I said,
I was loaded for bear last night and I overreacted to everything. But thanks!!

And thanks for all YOU do! We're a pretty amazing group, no? :headbang:

12. And about that Starbucks...
It's WORLDS better than crap like this:

I remember when the first Starbucks opened under the Monorail in Seattle. People didn't know what espresso was then, and they made great coffee. The problem came when they grew so large, and especially after Howard Schultz stepped down -- they actually went to AUTOMATIC espresso machines! Pulling espresso is a ART! Anyway, Schultz has returned to bring the company back to its roots, so things look good for the future. But in Seattle, we have our own favorite local shops where they roast their own beans and carry on the fine tradition. When I move back there you will have to come visit and I'll give you a tour. :hi:

13. Will do!
'My' local starbucks is closing between 5-8 tomorrow eve, to work on some stuff with staff; will find out what for. Place is a comfort zone for me.

and 'crap like this' is just that; i've used 'melitta' drip method for years, at home, and now have to find plastic cones as mine are no longer available!

14. I personally favor the drip method --
but before I found a cute little cone that fits over my cup, I actually used a funnel lined with a paper towel. It did the trick!

E-bay has some cool vintage on-the-cup cone things, but they're pricey.

Do you do a pot at a time -- or just a cup?

Starbucks does offer a nice environment - I really do understand!

15. Pot or cup?
It depends!

Starbucks actually provided my only social venue for 1+ years. I met someone there, then had a dramatic, life-changing event. Went back to Starbucks friend, and, voila, here we are today!

18. You DO crack me up....I'm by the cup. No other way to control the result, I'm afraid.
In my most humble, south of perfection opinion.

19. By the cup as well, since it's just me AND
controlling the result.

I GENTLY dampen the grounds evenly in the filter, then LOVINGLY continue to distribute the water.

I know what's important in this world! You won't find ME on my deathbed ruing the fact that one of my major life regrets was mishandling the sacred ritual of preparing coffee. :hi:
