keep.....

I saved *all* the debates. I just turned on one from November.

Biden was so amazing. He had the audience in the palm of his hands.
He had fire in his voice, confidence, knowledge...and he was funny!
He had Hillary cracking up laughing because he made a joke about her.
And Edwards, Richardson and Dodd said "I agree with Joe"

 :cry:

He was the best of the best.

What the hell happened?

  :cry::cry::cry:

2. amazing for sure
I remember the debates, but didn't tape any. I would always think when they were over that people would see the special person Joe is. Your right.....so many times several of the candidates would mention......I agree with Joe. The other candidates seemed to have so much respect for him.

I have to agree with the statement that maybe we have now moved to the American Idol presidency...sad.

I am also agreeing with 48percenter on the VP spot. When Joe dropped out I felt it best he kept doing what he was doing. The last couple of weeks have made me realize that the two candidates we have left are going to need help. They both need a bulldog type personality to compliment their own. Someone who truly can relate to the average American. Someone who would never back down from what is right. A person that has depth and is trustworthy. Someone who has great respect on the world stage......on and on and on...

I guess you know where I'm going........:)

3. Agreed as long as the VP isn't just ceremonial.
If he is a VP as John Adams called it "the most insignificant office that ever the invention of man contrived or his imagination conceived." In other words JB would have to be used for more than presiding over the senate. If he has a real voice in the administration, then it would be great to see him as VP.

4. VP
I'm not sure Joe would be chosen based on his low numbers in the primary, that being said, I think Biden's experience and knowledge would be better served elsewhere. Presiding over the Senate from what I understand would only be ceremonial, no vote unless a tie. Can you seriously see him sitting there without a vote or a voice? Cheney did make the VP spot more powerful, but that was done because of an inept President, which I would hope would not be the case w/ the Dems. Secretary of State, maybe, if the President would allow him free reign, what happened to Condi was that she was no more than a mouthpiece for Bush. If Biden can bring the President around to his way of thinking on foreign policy, that would be an awesome job for him. He tends to speak what's on his mind and I don't think he'd work well under any President that wasn't fully committed to his philosophy. But I do believe that both Dem candidates are on the record as saying Joe is Right....I just don't want to see him marginalized by a no nothing position.

15. mjg - I saw a clip of Obama's foreign policy advisor who was pretty damn
impressive in her own right. Anyway, your statement of "if Biden can bring the Prez around to his thinking on foreign policy..."

This woman essentially felt the same way about many things that Joe does. I'm inclined to think that Joe has been an influence on Obama and her. Which is good.

Obama also talks about meeting with the new leader of Cuba, etc., having discussions with our foes -- same approach as Joe, so I'm encouraged that Joe will be consulted with and listened to if Obama becomes president.

Same with Hillary - although she has differing opinions than Joe on certain approaches, I can't help but think that she would give him a listen, too.

They're both extremely intelligent people, and I trust them to recognize what an asset they would have in Joe.

17. Also one diff between Cheney and Biden as VP would be that Cheney loves
to hide in the background and pretend like he's not really pulling the strings.

Joe - hide in the background? :spray: Can't keep a good man down!

Even as SOS - look what Colin Powell 'had' to do regarding the WMD in Iraq. Still a mouthpiece for the administration, and I'm not sure if there's anyway around that if you're part of the team.

Joe needs free rein.

He needs to be our President.

11. "that people would see the special person Joe is"
Many did - and complimented him here, followed by the phrase "but he doesn't have a chance". It was SO frustrating!

And again, I'm kind of in the doesn't want Joe to be VP school. He'd have to be part of the administration and that by necessity would curtail what he could and couldn't say/do, but you do present a compelling argument for it. Hmmmm.

We've all gone through horrific times where we knew nothing good could ever come out of it, but yet, eventually we look back and go "that was probably the best thing that could have happened to me at that time". Even Joe says that about his having to drop out the first time he ran, because then he discovered the aneurisms.

Anyway, I LOVE HIM as we all do.

.

20. I'm back and forth on this
I tried to think of the type of person who might be good as a VP....someone who could compliment and complete either candidate. For me Joe fulfills those qualities.

On the other hand I have to agree with you and some of the comments of the above posts.....I would hate to see him limited by his position. Much like Gore was for Clinton. I was not a Bill Clinton fan, but when he picked Gore I got on the bandwagon. Then of course Al was limited as to what he could accomplish. I also hear this thing about not having two Senators....might be something to that. I don't know....

Having faith that this will all workout for the best.....I wish I could be that content, but in reality it might be the best advice!!!

6. Put them on dvd.
Edited on Sat Feb-23-08 01:42 PM by CrispyQGirl
Hmmm, not a bad idea. I would love a DVD of Biden debates & speeches. So who in our group is going to offer to do this? :o

on edit: I can't even go into how disappointed I am with our final selection. The last time I was this discouraged with politics, I dropped out for 20 years.

12. The only real positive take I have from the current selection,
is that SO MANY MILLIONS of people are coming alive and waking up and getting involved in the political process. It's a shot in the arm we need.

I understand your disappointment. If any of us were convinced that either Hillary or Obama would be PERFECT, we would have supported him or her in the first place.

But maybe, it'll all work out for the best. God knows, We The People deserve a break.

But thanks! ;) Although it would mean more if you had seen me & were basing your comment on my stunningly youthful looks! :7

22. I am totally stunned!
I never once thought you were as old as me.

Must be because you are younger than your age.
And that is a compliment.

I once had someone tell me on my birthday - If you didn't know how old you were, how old would you be? I remember that and repeat that alot.
Somedays I feel like I'm 90, somedays I think I'm still a teenager - until my teenager tells me I am embarrassing :P

on TIVO, but finally I deleted them recently. I just couldn't bring myself to watch them again - too painful.

13. Whenever I'd see a debate, or watch a vid of a speech or an appearance somewhere,
I would be CONTINUALLY blown away. It hurts me to go back and look at any now (the other day I posted for the umpteenth time the "Sacred Obligation" video but couldn't bring myself to watch it) because I think My GOD -- we had it ALL with this man!

He still is the best of the best, P.

14. That's exactly how I felt last nite, gateley.
He blew me away --- all over again.

Even more so because we have been so focused on the 2 remaining candidates.
Last nite I fell in 'love' with Biden all over again.
I had forgotten how good it felt to have a candidate to believe in, not one that I was settling for.

Edited on Sat Feb-23-08 03:44 PM by gateley
did we say "just when I thought he couldn't impress me any more than he already has...." we'd be gobsmacked.

Yes - regardless of who becomes our nominee, I feel we're settling. Sigh.

As I just posted though, I trust both of them to realize what they have in Joe - and utilize him well.

EDIT - three tries to spell a fake word -- gobsmacked -- correctly. :eyes:
