I decided to shoot this off to Dan Abrams, after his show on "Media Matters";
Dan,
I just watched your show on "Media Matters". I realize that you are apolitical, but what you should know is, the media has done this all along. It isn't about Hillary and Obama. Even you failed to mention the other candidates who were casualties of the media's biased, selective coverage. Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, Bill Richardson, and now, most probably John Edwards will fall.
Of course, their problem was the opposite of Obama's and Hillary's. The all got ZERO coverage, and unless a crisis popped up, Joe Biden got NO media attention, even though he had a large supporter base nationwide. It sounds horrible, but some of us actually looked forward to something happening globally, because we knew Joe Biden would FINALLY get some press, on various news/political shows. But it was too little, too late.
It happened to the others I mentioned as well. The media has forced the democrats into two candidates. Both of those candidates were chosen a long time ago, by all of the media outlets, including MSNBC. This is just wrong. We all know how influential the media is, and so does the media. So they went with the two that would make them money. A woman candidate, and an African American.
Who needs to waste time covering the most QUALIFIED people, who actually DESERVE to be the president, when the media can turn this into 'Election Survivor"? That's what this has become. Nothing more. The media voted Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, and Bill Richardson off of the island, BEFORE the rest of us even had a chance to weigh in.
I'll tell you, media reform needs to be a part of election reform, and there are a lot of people really pissed off about this, and it's not going to go away. We are going to get involved, and perhaps the sweet justice in this, is, that Joe Biden, who is heavily involved in election reform, will be the one who writes the legislation to prevent the media from turning the next election into an episode of "Election Survivor".
We are demanding fairness in covrage, and reporting. Anything less, is unacceptable, and if the media doesn't want to 'get with the program', then I guess people will have to start tuning you out. I wonder, how much would advertising be worth if there are no viewers.......
