What will Biden do? Let's speculate, shall we....
This is a comment from the article I posted this morning; "Another article from Delaware". I think it was an important comment, and I wonder who it was that asked him not to get involved with another campaign......who do you all think picked up the phone first, and why?

"Biden has received calls from other candidates seeking his support, including one who asked him not to get involved with another campaign, O'Brien said, declining to give a name.

But Biden said he wouldn't be endorsing another candidate at this stage. In the early hours after the caucus, Biden's mind was elsewhere."

1. I really don't know, but I hope he doesn't endorse anyone
Somehow it doesn't feel right and could be viewed as an attempt to influence the future president, which I don't think he would do.

4. I hope he doesn't endorse anyone, either, for the same reason. I'd PERSONALLY
like to know which one he thinks would do the best job, though.

3. Interesting -- good question, C -- Who do you called him?
I'm guessing Clinton, for one, because they've known each other so long. I'm also guessing maybe Obama? All three are senators, and even though Edwards was once, he's no longer in the inner circle.

5. Not really sure he ever was in the inner circle
I wonder what the other senators think of him.

7. I know you didn't watch the debate -but
Edwards latched on to Obama like a tick to a dog.
Edwards was talking about how he and Obama were the candidates of change, and Hillary was the status quo.
He used Obama's win to go against Hillary.

All I kept thinking was what I wouldn't give to be reading Obama's mind at that moment.

10. And Hillary's!
I'm sure she was prepared for it though. Gotta hand it to her, she's tough.

6. I think it was Obama asking Joe to be his VP.
Obama knows he is screwed when he gets elected.
(I place all bets that he will be the one)

I envision O walking into the oval office on his first day and saying
"I HOPE I know what to do."

18. I've been thinking about Hillary in the Oval Office and of Bill's influence.
I think Joe would be the only one to go toe to toe with Bill and stand up to the Clintons. Just a thought.

On second thought, I can see Dodd and Kennedy doing it, too.

19. Personally?
I think Joe was really hurt about Iowa. I think he gave his heart and soul to them, and they threw it away.(most of them anyway) He had to say to himself; I'm not what they want. I'm not the kind of candidate they're looking for. They don't accept my ideas, or solutions. They don't want my experience. They're looking for something different than I can offer them. I think he feared the same results nationwide. Joe realized things are not the same as they were. He sees that this country has changed it's priorities.

So he got out.

That's my take on it. Whatever it was, it's just such a tragedy.

20. It is,but.......
I was thinking, maybe it is best for Joe,if not for us and the country. There were times there that he and at the end Jill and Valerie just looked exhausted . Look how the presidency ages those who get elected. And you know that the republicans will find a way to blame all that is wrong right now on the Dems. Joe is already a powerful man and has a pulpit to present what he wants to get done. At the end of the day he goes home to his dear Jill and his loving family. He won't be the president, but he does live on to fight another day and other issues.

Whoever gets elected, Dem or Repub will need him.

Ok now if I can just say this to myself everytime I get glum about this,

21. I'd always have those underlying thought -- when I'd see how dramatically
Bush or Clinton aged in the WH, wondering what it would do to Joe. How it would effectively end his normal life. How it would affect Jill -- could she still teach if she wanted to? -- his grandchildren. For those PERSONAL reasons I'm almost glad it turned out this way.

On the other hand, he was willing to risk all that -- and he's witnessed it more times than many -- to serve our country.

Sigh.

22. I agree with you, C. Again, it's a bitter irony that Obama picked
this time to run -- if he hadn't been in the mix, I think it would have been an entirely different situation.

People DO want hope, and change, and a break from the "old", but ESPECIALLY NOW, we need someone who can get us to the point where we CAN make those changes. I don't think O can. Which is why I felt Biden/Obama would be the perfect way to go...

23. I think, hence, my added anger towards Obama...
Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 03:22 PM by 1corona4u
in a way, I feel he is responsible for killing Joe in Iowa. Think about it. Edwards would have still ben there, Hillary would have still been showing, and I don't think Richardson would have done any better with/without Obama. But Obama changed the dynamic for Joe. If 'change' and 'hope' were never a part of the brainwash, Joe would have had a much better chance.

24. I think Obama changed the dynamic for ALL of the candidates. He IS
new and exciting (at first look).

If I was young I'd probably be supporting him, I wouldn't notice that he wasn't really TELLING me anything, nor that he wasn't walking his talk -- I'd be riding the wave.

His appearance at this time has affected all of our people.
