do you read any antiquing-thrifting blogs?
I went looking the other night to see if there were any blogs written by pickers, and found a whole bazoo of blogs people are writing about their treasure hunts. Most of them seem to be finding things for themselves rather than for resale, but it's still interesting, I think, to be tagging along with them.

I started here, written by a woman who goes with a couple of friends every weekend in Boston:

Do you have any favorite blogs or web sites on the subject?

1. Yes, here are a few
ArsLonga - Midcentury Modern - This is the first one that came to mind for you especially. I think he's primarily a collector.

Vintage Rescue Squad - she picks, fixes up and sells

Apron Thrift Girl

Not about pickers but still about old things and/or style

Design Sponge - a good place to find other blogs

Vintage Childrens Books

Retro Renovation - stuck in here because I think you'd enjoy this one

I know that I have more on my list and will check later when I get home from errands. When I looked quickly through my bookmarks I realized just how much shabby, cottage there is out there. Shabby chic is still very popular.

2. Yipes, - I have sympathy for this shop manager

I've been going through the list of blogs read by the owner of Yard Sale Bloodbath. I see that the Ars Longa blog is at the top of their list, too. :)

3. face mask anyone?
Wot a job.

I volunteered for a few months in a charity store some years ago. I never saw the worst customer behavior, apparently, but I did see a lot of culling going on by the paid staff. One of them had a rack of the best clothing and fur coats in her office and the word was that she wore them out on the town on occasion. Nobody but two paid staff were allowed to open bags and boxes incoming for sorting. I saw the best of stuff just disappear.

4. Here's one that looks good
Manic Thrift Store Shopper --> http://mtss.blogspot.com/

One thing that I appreciate about this blog is that almost every picture is of a thrifted item. No baby photos or the latest batch of muffins or pot of soup. Several pages deep there are only a few pictures of the blogger's friends and one chicken dish that was posted because it was in a thrifted Pyrex casserole.
