Anyone having problems with FED EX?
I had a box shipped from Mexico, then erroneously labeled with someone else's label at a repacking place in the US, and sent to another state. That person received my box, I received hers. I cannot tell you how many phone calls it took to straighten this out (a month later, box has still not been delivered) -- one person doesn't talk to another, they can hardly understand basic information. Example: FEDEX clerk: "We have the box on a truck" -- me: "No you don't, it's sitting in my living room."
I have never encountered so many stupid people in a service situation in all my born days. What the hell is wrong? (Other than FEDEX has let go all of the folks who knew anything, could do their jobs, and cost them $$$ and hired the B team at minimum wage.)
:grr:

1. UPS is not much better. They have messed up things for me
on a number of occasions. Once they damaged a shipment so badly that I had to put in a claim for insurance. That was a real pain in the neck. I had to have the Manager of the store from which I shipped to go to bat for me to get a settlement. They crushed the goods beyond repair and tried to blame my packing.

Today I shipped something via UPS because I really had no option. Post office is too expensive.

I asked for the red Fragile stickers and was told they do not use them any more.
The system is 100% automated and there is no control over anything you ship. If they break this shipment, I will have to go through all the baloney again. I will not cash the money-order until I find out that the buyer received the goods in fine condition. This was a shipment in reply to an ad on Craigslist. The buyer used a Postal Money order and I had it verified at the Post office before shipping. It is real.

We are all at the mercy of these guys in one way or another. Where I used to work, we would get customer complaints frequently that UPS mangled boxes. They contained expensive special occasion clothing. Once I had a package refused by a customer who called to tell me that the box was obviously run over. You gotta love it!

2. 30 MPH
My fedex guy told me that their sorting machines shuffles the boxes through at 30 mph.

I'm surprised that anything fragile gets through unbroken.

3. for what it's worth
FedEx lost a package I shipped to Norway and found it after four months. A few months later a check for $100 from FedEx appeared in my mail. What's this I asked them? It's because we failed to deliver your package promptly, they said.

4. I heard FED EX was going to merge with UPS.....
They're going to cal it FED UP..
LOL...had to put that joke in here. It seemed so appropriate.

I HAVE to used FED EX when I send anything to Manila. (otherwise it is stolen)...very expensive...
I mailed a debit card to me son and it cost me $25.00 for an FED EX envelope.
I want to send Christmas gifts (light weight, but fairly big)..wonder if I'll even try it.

5. I would

write a nice email (don't cuss, or threaten them) detailing all of the actions that I had taken to remedy the situation, including the people that I'd talked to along the way (names and badge numbers --if I remembered them).

I'd be concise, clear, but direct about what I expected from the company. Then I'd send the email to some (or all) of the following individuals.

FWSmith@fedex.com
- Fred Smith, Chairman, President, Chief Executive Officer

RCARTER@fedex.com
- ROBERT CARTER, Executive VP Chief Information Officer

DREBHOLZ@fedex.com

Now I don't know if this is going to work, some of the contact information listed here is from a website that was updated in 2008 so it could have changed since then. If it doesn't, let me know and I'll see what else I can find.

Q3JR4.
Happy hunting.
