Mass Transit makes the Baby Jesus cry
As does carpooling, at least according to this website (see page 6):-

Sometimes I wish that the flying saucers would land, and that the little green men would allow zanies of this sort to go off and settle some distant, unoccupied planet. I think the rest of us here in the US should send these erstwhile "Amurricans" off with our best wishes for a fresh start far, far away but with one proviso. That proviso is that the US DOESN'T give political sanctuary to that group's ruling clique when the invitable happens and the proles mount a successul overthrow of their regime.

:P

3. I think there is a grain of truth in that insanity.
I live in NYC, and this city would die without public transportation. But the rules posted in every transit hub say they can search you and your possessions at any time. You can refuse, but if you do then they can bar you from those transit hubs.

If you don't own a car, you have to effectively give up your right against unreasonable search and seizure or else be stuck at home with no way to go anywhere. Mass transit can be used as a club to take away our rights.

The ACLU has been awesome fighting against this. The ability to travel should not be contingent upon giving up our rights. Unfortunately, the ACLU lost. :(

We definitely need to promote far more mass transit. But at the same time we can't allow our dependence on mass transit to make us vulnerable to losing our rights.
