California officials seek driver of car that caused crash, killing (four bikers)
Edited on Mon Nov-15-10 02:17 PM by rocktivity
California authorities were still looking...for the driver of a car who fled the scene after causing a wreck that left...four motorcyclists and a passenger in another car...dead.

A gold Honda Civic tried to pass a group of 12 motorcycles and crossed into the oncoming lane to do so, the California Highway Patrol said. The Honda passed the motorcycles, but a Dodge Avenger swerving to avoid hitting the Honda struck the motorcycles head-on..."The...Civic left the scene without stopping..." said...a spokeswoman for the highway patrol.

...The bikers are part of the Saddle Tramps Motorcycle group in Lakeside, California. They were taking a casual ride on their Harley Davidsons to celebrate the group's 10th anniversary.

...(The driver of the) Dodge Avenger...whose wife was killed in the accident, was released when a blood alcohol test showed he was not under the influence...The Civic was estimated to be traveling 90 to 100 mph...

Since the driver hasn't been found, I think I'll cross-post in the the DU California group, too. I guess he or she figured that motorcyclists have no rights that motorists are bound to respect.
