1. Sounds great!
Sort of scary to see that car, driving down what looks like the middle of the road, while waiting for you to turn around! :hi:

6. Cycle Shack 1 3/4" drag pipes
I have them barely baffled. I just cut the end off the mini baffles that came with them so basically it just narrows them down to about 1 1/4 " right before the exit. They gave me just enough back pressure to get it to tune up . Yeah, it's loud

7. Sweet!
I have straight (no baffles) drags on my 81 and with the stroker kit..it regularly sets off car alarms if I am not really careful in parking lots.

8. yeah, I've set off an alarm or two

How did you get it to tune up with no baffling at all? I had to narrow mine a little or it would just go way too lean, and there was a real flat spot in the lower rpm range.

9. Tune? Too lean?
Do new H-Ds still have carburetors? How do you change the mixture in a fuel-injected motor? Change the computer program or data?

I'd have to think about making my bike louder. I don't want to wake up the neighbors' kids when I leave for work at 5:30am.

Anyways, that video is nice. Good running bike.

:hi:

10. Thanks
I don't know how to do the new ones,They call it "mapping" the fuel injection I believe. My '99 has a carb on it so I can do my own jetting for the exhaust I'm running.I thought about trading it in for a newer one a couple years ago but decided to keep it and ride it until the wheels fall off.

12. All I know is.....
a friend has a fuel injected bike and the new pipes have plugs that plug into the wiring and the bike self tunes to the pipes after running a while.

13. how nice
I had to pull the carb off and change jets and shorten the spring length on the CV slide to even get into the ball park, then I had to ride and fine tune the idle mixture screw...it was sure worth it once I got her dialed in though :)

11. 3 sets of pipes later.....
after 'coloring' them up tuning....(ended up fabbing a set of stainless ones at work to try too)...actually ended up going down the road with a little screwdriver and tweaking as I rode.......easier to do on the older bikes.....this wouldn't work on the Evo sporty I have. The stroker kit in the 81 probably makes a difference too......it has some oooomph to be a 1000 ironhead

14. yep
I've colored up a set or two over the years. If you start too lean it will blue them up right off the bat. Most times you'll need just a little back pressure or it will run too lean. Here's the oldest tried and true trick in the book, it's just a bolt with a washer welded on the end, you can adjust the angle so it becomes and adjustable "vane" that will give you a little back pressure without killikn the sound of the pipes ;)
