My latest knitting project (with pictures)
Since I was laid up with a bad ankle this spring I knitted a set of baby clothes for the daugther of a couple of friends of mine. There's 4 garments, a jacket, a dress, bloomers, and a hat.

Here's a pic of all of them

Here are links to pictures of the individual garments:

They're done in size 1 year.

After I finished, I liked them so much, I started knitting a second set, for my niece who's two days older than the first girl. I am currently doing the second leg of the bloomers, which is all I have left to knit (except the plackets on the jacket) before I start fastening threads and crocheting the scalloped edges on everything. I also have to do the smocking on the dress and bloomers, but still, I think that's pretty well done in 6 months!

1. Oh, my, you took my breath away!
What a gorgeous floral print! I don't think I can ever dream of being that proficient. Thanks for sharing! That's a lucky baby and you'll need to be careful that the mom doesn't swoon! :)

2. Love the intarsia.
That was my favorite type of knitting until I discovered lace.

Very nice set. btw, did you know that there is a set of knit stitches that will do the smocking on the needles?

8. Thank you.
I do guess I'm a bit crazy, considering I'm finishing up a second set this weekend. It's just that these past 7 months I've been restricted because of an injured ankle. Most of my time after work is spend in front of a screen, and I can never watch tv or films without some kind of crafts in my hands. I think I'm going to let the knitting needles rest a bit after this set, tho', and try my hand at hand piecing and quilting instead. I visited Jinny Beyer's studio this summer, and have many projects lined up.

4. Gorgeous!!
omg. Your talent just blows me away. Excuse my ignorance--hand or maching knit? I had an amazing machine knit teacher when I was in school. :hi:

7. I only hand knit.
However, my mother and many others do say that I knit very evenly. I do remember the first thing I tried to knit. I started with 10 stitches and ended up with 60! LOL I've come a long way. When in my teens, I knitted several sweaters that were very well received. My stepfather even wore a sweather I'd knitted when interviewed on national tv - I guess that's my claim to fame LOL.

9. ::blush:: thank you.
I really liked the color combination myself. I found the yellow and purple and lilac so fresh. The other color suggestion, offwhite with peach and apricot, was so insipid. There's also a blanket which was the first thing I did, but it's being used by a little boy.

10. Baby clothes tend to inspire such thoughts!
I've knitted these for the daughter of friends, and I'm also doing a set for my niece. They were born two days apart, so they'll both be 1 year old in late October. There's always someone to knit baby clothes for, and as I understand it, if you have kids of your own, you rarely have time to knit for them.
