With all due respect to Molly Ivins...
A surge is not acceptable to the people in this country — we have voted overwhelmingly against this war in polls (about 80 percent of the public is against escalation, and a recent Military Times poll shows only 38 percent of active military want more troops sent) and at the polls. We know this is wrong. The people understand, the people have the right to make this decision, and the people have the obligation to make sure our will is implemented...

We are the people who run this country. We are the deciders. And every single day, every single one of us needs to step outside and take some action to help stop this war. Raise hell. Think of something to make the ridiculous look ridiculous. Make our troops know we're for them and trying to get them out of there. Hit the streets to protest Bush's proposed surge. If you can, go to the peace march in Washington on Jan. 27. We need people in the streets, banging pots and pans and demanding, "Stop it, now!"

I'm sorry, Molly, but after the capitualtion of the Democratic Congress to Herr Decider on funding the occupation on Iraq, compounded with the recent ugliness directed at an anti-war protest outside West Point - I don't think pots and pans are sufficient anymore.

We need to take the battle to the traitors and slaves who have undermined America and put us in the sorry shape we're in. We can no longer afford any compromise with them.

Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God. I believe ginbarn's great-great-great-great-grand-uncle said that once upon a time.

1. If she can hear you
She has better ears than you or I.

BTW, you think she didn't know that. But potentially inciting violence wasn't her style.

3. Violence? Who said anything about violence?
I'm a Quaker, for cryin' out loud. I don't want anyone getting hurt. But I do want more anti-war activists to stand up on their hind legs and start shutting down people like this "Gathering of Eagles" that hit West Point, not to mention the more violent factions of Protest Warrior.

Necessity is the mother of invention, but unfortunately we haven't gotten inventive enough despite being saddled with this damnable occupation since 2003.
