I just don't understand this Democrartic Congress
Oversight is a legitiamate Congressional responisbility. It has a right and obligation to aske the asministration....any administration.....tough questions..... It has a right to subpoena government officala and compel testimony under oatth. There is a gray area regarding privilege.. but any govenement official approved by the senat ought to be compelled to copmply with congressional qewusts to answer to question.

Rice and Gonzales haf simply ignored suppoenas.
The White House has refused to allow its officials to testify under oath or with a transcript

Monica Goodling get softball questionings eventhough she readily admits to politically seeding the Justice Department

Criticism and tough questioning during oversight hearing need not be bombastic,, but it cetainy need to be intellectually honesrt and with this administration critical.

and yet depita all the criticism no congressial websites and in the press rooms.... its as though when it comes to doing actual oversight our leadership is incredibly timid an d ametuerish.... what gives?

If there is anything to this Attorneygate thing at all get to the heart of the matter already....get to rove... force the fight. Force the constutuional crisis!!!!!

If tghere was pending legislation put at risk. I could see a velvet hjammer approach... but there is nothing critical that is pending that would force the congress to "play nice"

This administration is opposed loudly be 65% of the american people. That gives chairman incredible leverage and leeway for going after the Wite House.

There is no ratioal reason to be so timid. what are the irrational ones? Whtat am I missing.

The leaders in both houses of Congress are compromising their organization and legislation because the DNC still controls the money and the agenda. In other words, the DNC is intent on taking the White House in 2008 with its candidate of choice. And that means that the DNC doesn't want either House to enact legislation or to take on a policy that would not reflect well on its presidential candidate, one of several who are already in the Senate. By forcing a vote on a controversial issue, the candidate would have extra baggage on the campaign trail, to defend, rebut, or explain. In short, the DNC is satisfied that the republicans are not in the majority and cannot draft their legislation. This means a status quo of limiting damage at the expense of no progress. I believe there are several representatives and senators who are chomping at the bit to impeach, have more hearings but the leadership is telling them, "Not right now . . . . "

5. DLC. My bad.
DLC and DNC often clash on the goals of the democratic party.

6. Spell check is your friend. I understand the situation.
The administration has political allies in our party concerning foreign poilicy. That is why they are protected from the majority and the people.

7. the "democrats" are shills, patsies
our "government" is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of War, Inc., which is an agency of the ruling oligarchy.

The congressional "Democrats" are the Washington Generals to the fascist Globetrotters. They are the masked bad guys in a pro rasslin' tag team match against the "hero" repukes. They are scripted to lose.
