Great news for UCLA - FlyAway bus from Westwood to LAX
Students are always looking for a way to save money. Faculty too. That's why there's room for celebration among fliers frequenting UCLA. Beginning June 14, low-fare, convenient FlyAway bus service begins from Westwood to Los Angeles International.
The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners terms the service a “pilot program,” but if public reaction to the regular FlyAway service from downtown LA is any indication, it could catch on quick especially at $3 each way (that adult fare rises to $4 on July 1). Kids ages two to 12 ride for $2. If your child's under the age of two, they travel free. As a sweetener, to get UCLA travelers to try FlyAway, the service is free on the Westwood run from June 14 through June 30.
FlyAways will take off for LAX (using freeway HOV lanes) from Kinross Avenue, two blocks west of Westwood Boulevard. Parking for immediate drop-off/pick-up of passengers will be available in UCLA parking Structure 32, which is adjacent to the FlyAway bus stop.
Caveat: overnight parking won't be permitted there Monday through Thursday. Weekend parking will be fine from 3pm on Friday through 7am on Monday. Starting July 1, weekend parking will be okay in UCLA Parking Lot 36, across from the FlyAway stop. The frequency of the service will be every 30 minutes on the hour and half-hour, from 5am to 1pm. FlyAway busses drop off and pick up outside all nine of Los Angeles International's terminals.
