"cut off funding to the troops"
I was reading this in an editorial. They actually put it in quotes and that allowed me to see something I had missed. The republics punked us again! The money (we should have withheld) is for the war and specifically for Halliburton's war profiteers. I hate the republics but damn, they are good at this framing the argument stuff.

David Letterman once quipped, “President Bush is asking Congress for $80 billion to help rebuild Iraq…and when you make out that check, remember there are two L's in Halliburton.”

3. Exactly
How much of that money is actually going to the troops anyway?

And while we're at it, every time they throw the "funding the troops" B.S. in their face, we should be bringing up the cutting back on the troops' pay raise.

4. It baffled me that anyone anywhere fell for this, actually.
"The troops" aren't a charity. The troops are a bunch of people who work for the government, on a particularly dangerous government project known as the war in Iraq. When the fuckhead-in-chief and his minions actually made it seem as though they'd be stuck in Iraq with no food, supplies or way to get home if funding was interfered with in any way, it just boggled my mind. "They've really done it now," I thought. "No one's gonna fall for this."

But they did.

9. Don't know if "fall for" is
exactly right because in all probability if the Dems had not acquiesced it would have been "made" the truth, in my mind there is not one doubt that there would have been directives to stop shipments of food, water, medical supplies, you name it to the soldiers in Iraq, with the ever compliant MSM doing stories on our poor soldiers being held hostage by the Democratic Party.

11. Thing is, if we got better at reframing their crap
without using their original framing, we might be able to turn it to our advantage.
