4. I know...someone did this for me last quarter and it is something

so unexpected and kind....we'd had some hard times at that time, (and it ain't great yet) we had just lost an infant grandson. Everytime I looked at that star I remembered the kindness. I just love DU!!!

It also makes the search function available to you and I believe it may protect you from excessive advertisements.

It indicates that you donated to DU. Or someone else donated for you.

The main reason I care about the star is it lets me disable the google ads. Plus I can do advanced searches & post in the DU groups forums.

Some people are here for years without getting much "name" recognition -- so don't let it get you down if you don't feel a part of the group for some time. It can help if you hang out in one of the forums instead of just surfing "Latest" "Greatest" and "General Discussion" --

The state forums, topic forums and DU Groups are listed at the top of the "Latest" page - although I am not sure how many are visible unless you become a donating member.

Members with stars can participate in DU Groups. I think they also can do more advanced searches than those who do not. :hi:
