Enjoying Memorial Day, you Christian Iraq War Supporters?
How does it feel knowing that the victory that Bush got was handed to him by a supposedly leftist Congress? Our troops will continue to be there and they will continue to either die or begin lives of misery after losing a limb or be so psychologically tortured that they will effectively cease to be what you would consider to be "hard working, productive" members of society. The numbers for any of those groups will rise dramatically over the weekend while you're enjoying your barbecues or watching the latest "Pirates of the Caribbean" with your family.

At that point you're probably trying to turn away from the unpleasantness of the reality as the guilt starts to ever so slowly but surely manifests itself within your collective psyche. You probably tell yourselves that we have had a moral obligation as a Christian nation to take the fight to the heathens in the mid east since God Almighty surely run out of patience with those who wouldn't believe in Him. After all, that's what you've been hearing from the likes of Ted Haggard and Jerry Falwell.

But then there comes the true ugliness with this course of events. The King James bible is very clear about false prophets as evidenced within the 10 Commandments and nearly the entire book of Matthew-which is the first book of the New Testament. Maybe, just maybe you begin to wonder if you hadn't been led astray.

Its funny but did it ever occur to you that this darling of a Christian nation hadn't really considered the warning by Jesus Himself when he said "Surely that which ye have done to my brethren ye have done to me."? Supposedly 1 in 3 people in the U.S. consider the bible to be the literal word of God. If they had been right then perhaps they wouldn't have been so quick to summarily dismiss an entire region of the world as being non-Christian. Oh yes there had been some "prayer teams" ready to distribute emergency bibles to those ready to be converted to your faith. Clearly however there wasn't a single person who had stopped to ask about the people who already were of the Christian faith.

That's right, no one among you ever bothered to think this through (with exception perhaps of GW Bush's church who went to Washington D.C. to see him about his decision to invade Iraq and were summarily shut out from the White House). Most likely they wanted to advise him on the mistake of putting in danger the lives of 12 million professing Christians. Surely you remember from your bible that the mid east was the region of the world where Christ was born and preached the gospel, right? It still seems that you hadn't thought this through.

Of course there is also the rationalization that Bush is the President and as such was placed in office by God Himself, and as such, it was your responsibility to support Bush every step of the way. By that same logic however the same was true for Saddam Hussein, and by now you have probably realized that the will of God was broken by a brazen act of invading a sovereign country and removing the ruler who was put in place there. By that same logic, any country can claim a belief in God for the express purpose of invading the U.S. and removing Bush. All of a sudden it isn't such a calming thought.

And now by your standards of faith, you are faced with a growing problem, one that will inevitably grow as a result of your conscience. You are the ones who, from a perspective of Christian faith, absolutely chose to ignore the warning signs. Bush never claimed to ask Jesus to save him from his own sins, a requisite for salvation. Bush also hasn't been known to attend church on a regular basis and he isn't known for keeping the fellowship of Christians. His inner circle in Washington doesn't profess any belief in the bible or Christ at all. You enabled a swindler to use you. You are as guilty as him in committing a crime of colossal magnitude. There is murder, mayhem, theft, and a growing suffering taking place far away from you though you are responsible.

Christ said in Matthew "By their fruits ye shall know them". He also turned away those who said they worked miracles and prophesied in His name because in the end they didn't truly live lives that reflected what He preached. If you were to take your own faith seriously, you would find yourselves angrier, more outspoken and very liberal with regards to current affairs. It is time to examine yourselves very closely because this war is an affront to God. The truth shall set you free.

1. Great post.
I can't see how any Christian could support Bush at this point. Even if they are against abortion to the point where they can't vote for a Democrat, if they can't see the endless sins coming out of this administration they must be blind. I expect a lot of Christians staying at home in 2008.

TX and cant seem to even steal it in Iraq using the worlds Best Army as Mercineries... the man is INSANE.. he is a Psychopath, he Tortured small animals to death as a child, executed 152 prisoners in custody, including the Insane, the Mentally Ill and the obviously innocent, he mocked the fear of a woman about to die whom the Pope "personally" begged him to commute to life in prison.. he lied to start a war and is responsible for the death of over 600,000 civilians and over 3000 soldiers, some say over 10,000 if you count the wounded in iraq that died outside of the war zone..

he will continue to kill.. and have no remorse, he uses 911 as an excuse and ignored 52 warning of imminent disaster from terrorist attack from other countries intelligence agencies.. one warning said "eminent attack withing weeks or days" only weeks before the attack.. only a fool or a Psychopath would ignore such warnings.. some Black Music artists response to Katrina was
"George Bu$h doesn't care about Black People"... well, it is pretty evident he doesn't care about ANY people, only the wealth the privileged people can get him.... "Turn your back on him"

3. The late Pope, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and the World Council of Churches....
all opposed the war from the beginning.

5. None so deaf as those who would not hear
none so blind as those who will not see, especially when it comes to raising swords in vain. You're probably right.
