Have no fear, Jim Webb is here!
http://webb.senate.gov/newsroom/record.cfm?id=275136&

"My efforts will continue with the Defense Authorization Bill, which will soon be debated on the Senate floor. This week, I introduced a restrictive amendment during the Armed Services Committee's mark-up of that bill. I withdrew the amendment during the mark-up process due to a technical objection, but I intend to offer this amendment on the floor of the Senate when the Defense Authorization bill comes up for debate in the coming weeks."

Bush? Nope. Cheney? Why he's an innocent bystander. It all comes down to Jim Webb. It's HIS FAULT.

7. Nope
You forgot Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer, Clinton, Obama, and every other Vichy Democrat who voted for the bill or caved to Bush.

This was there chance to take charge and stop Bush. They folded like a $1.99 Wal-Mart card table. Up until this vote, this was Bush's war. It is now their's.

The media will remind the sheep EVERY DAY for the next two years how the Dems "caved to Bush".

If you want to make excuses for them, be my guest.

9. Oh, cute.
"Vichy Democrats." How positively cute. Did you come up with that yourself?

I'm not making excuses for anyone. This bill is shit. Neither am I perfomring a hysterical assraping of history because I'm pissed off about it. At least you spelled "Vichy" correctly. Kudos.

10. Yes, as a matter of fact, I did
I coined it years ago in honor of Joe Lieberman, Joe Biden, Hilary Clinton and all the rest of the Dams who signed onto Bush's war.

"Assraping" history? Give me a break.

24. If you're going to slam Webb, then at least be post his entire statement, not a select quote:
The full statement:

Statement of Senator Webb on Passage of the Iraq Supplemental Bill
Washington, DC - The following is a statement from Senator Jim Webb regarding the Iraq War supplemental spending bill that has been passed by both houses of Congress:

"I worked very hard to try to persuade the Democratic leadership to include clear, restrictive language in this Supplemental. I did not succeed, and was disappointed in many of the provisions that remained. However, we are working under the reality that, on the issue of Iraq, this Senate does not have a Democratic majority. From the outset, we are a minority of 49, given Senator Lieberman's position on the war. This reality dictates our conduct. On the one hand, I find myself unable to vote against a measure that is necessary to fund our troops who are now in harm's way. On the other, I will not relent from my continuing efforts to bring this occupation to an end.

"I will continue to press for a strategy of strong diplomatic engagement, which will enable us to end the occupation of Iraq, to increase regional stability, to fight international terrorism more effectively, and to address our broad strategic interests around the world.

28. I posted a link to the entire statement
the last graf was the most unforgivable.

If you think posting the whole piece exonerates him, you are incorrect. His excuse is as lame as his "plan of action". It also drives home my point of his morally bankrupt excuse of political reality. While he prattles on, people are dying. THAT is reality.

I had high hopes for Webb, but he utterly failed this crucial test of character. This failure is unforgivable, as he has displayed himself compromised by the system he promised to change.

23. No, it is the Democratic Leaders fault
They had the chance to stop it, they decided instead to put their careers ahead of people's lives.

I address it in more detail here:

26.  They decided instead to put their careers ahead of people's lives.

That sentence is so simple, which is why I appreciate it so. (the triangulaters on DU have hundreds of words to exculpate them)

My husband and I have said the same in the last two days. I, however, think this was obvious during the cave in about habeas corpus. If anything was ever clear to me, it was then. Especially when I actually KNOW something about the prisoners being held in Guantanamo bay for years-being tortured-and many many of them innocent. How can you put your job over knowing that someone innocent is in hell right now without a chance of parole ever? That line applies to the soldiers too. For GOD's sake-they signed up for the NATIONAL GUARD-two weekends a month-to protect America-not fucking Iraq.

I don't know how they live with themselves. They think there is always tomorrow, but it's lives right this minute ending. I noticed there is something saying they are trying to amend the MCA just today. But Good Luck-their history shows they will not give very much to stop an innocent from being tortured or killed. I cannot imagine having a job and living with that-especially considering the lives of privilege they enjoy and then stomaching the florid language and high esteem they all have for each other.

Honorable is not a word I would ever throw their way.

27. They are convicted
by their advisers that if they do what is right, they will lose elections. They are completely disconnected from the reality of their actions. I am getting grief from some folks for slamming Jim Webb, but he has only been in Washington five months and he already speaks volumes, but says nothing.

Soldiers' cemetary. These politicians couldn't be thinking of Soldiers' lives like most of us are or they wouldn't be so callously, politically SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

I know bushits are thinking of the OIL..and our Dems? They don't want to seem to be doing the wrong thing..how about doing what their conscience tells them and it will turn out to be the politically best thing, also. Have some fucking faith for a change..like Kucinich, Kennedy, Sanders..et al.

30. That why I chose pictures
as I wanted a stark contrast to his utterly meaningless statement. I wanted to set his words against REALITY. Some people are pissed at me for doing so and think I am being unfair, but defy any of them to claim that I didn't paint an accurate picture of the reality.

You can see the disassocaiation from reality when Gonzalez "testifies". Alberto Gonzalez sits at a table and lies to them without any attempt at guile, yet they refuse to call him a liar. Such a blunt word is too uncivil, too offensive for their refined mouths to utter.

If I sat in their chair I would not call Gonzalez a liar, I would call him a "fucking liar" because "liar" doesn't begin to cover my contempt.
