PBS: A BRIEF HISTORY OF DISBELIEF -mia culpa
Here's an email reply to my protest letter to PBS for airing this little gem. Kinda like "I can't recall" answers I've been unable to digest lately. Unaccountability infects PBS;

Thank you for writing to PBS. We appreciate hearing from those interested in public television and its programs.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF DISBELIEF is not a PBS program. While PBS provides its member stations with programs from which they choose and schedule independently, local PBS stations also obtain programs from independent producers and other distributors. This is the case with A BRIEF HISTORY OF DISBELIEF, which is distributed by Executive Program Services.

More information regarding the air dates of this program is available online at:

http://www.abriefhistoryofdisbelief.org/NewFiles/Disbelief%20Calendar.pdf

http://www.abriefhistoryofdisbelief.org/

Please note that PBS is not affiliated with this Web site; we simply thought you might find this information helpful.

All program scheduling decisions are determined locally by each of our member stations. Since broadcast times and selections vary by station, please check out your local listings at:

http://www.pbs.org/tvschedules/index.html

or contact your local PBS station directly to find out if they will be broadcasting this program. You can find a national listing of local stations at:

http://www.pbs.org/stationfinder/index.html

Thank you again for writing to PBS. We hope you continue to enjoy the wide variety of programming available on your local PBS station.

Sincerely,

Felicia

1. It was a BBC production. Here is a link to it

2. What was your problem with it?
Did you also protest the non-critical PBS documentaries Islam Empire of Faith, or From Jesus to Christ, or Pope John Paul II, or Walking the Bible? Or is your problem that the program didn't originate in the US, and thus you also protest against anything PBS shows that was made by BBC or CBC? In any case, not all PBS stations are airing the program. It's simply one of those BBC programs that some local affiliates decide to fill their air time with.

If there's any problem with History of Unbelief, it's that it is boooooooring. I hate it when there's a show on a topic I'm interested in, and I keep falling asleep during it.

3. Is there a 'not' missing, perhaps?
Did you mean to say "my protest letter to PBS for not airing this little gem"? Because that might make a little more sense - since the programme didn't come through the central PBS organisation, it is up to each member station to show it if they think it will work.

Also, why are you saying 'mea culpa'? Are you trying to apologise for something?
