So what was my tax break? 3%?
That about right? Ok, fine, I'd gladly let my tax break expire, along with the tax breaks for the wealthy to help the country get back on it's feet. So fuck the compromise, put all the taxes back to where they were when Clinton was President. Give my 3% to some person who's job was outsourced by the very people who are whining about taxes.

Time for the so called "Patriots" to put their fucking money where their mouth is. Freepers Tea Baggers, whatever you want to call them, claim the Patriotic label right up until they have to sacrifice something. Then it's all a socialist plot. You think America is the "greatest country on earth"? THEN FUCKING PAY TO KEEP IT THAT WAY OR STFU.

1. The tax break that the repukes wanted was never about the rich
It was about them. They could careless about everyone else, or what everyone thinks, they forced the tax break so that they would have to pay less taxes. I have not heard one rich person outside of congress say that they absolutely need this tax break, but I have heard ever one of the repukes say that the rich need it to "create jobs".

4. What is in it for those of us on SS, no COLA , no cash payment,
no tax break.. The only thing is we are targeted for a reduction in future COLA payments and a raise in the retirement age. Now after stealing another $120 billion out of the payroll tax we will targeted by even bigger cuts in the future.

Edited on Tue Dec-07-10 06:09 PM by walldude
I'm talking about the Bush tax cuts.

You want to discuss SS or Cola payments, start a thread on them. And if you are asking my opinion, government payouts, like SS, Unemployment, and the like shouldn't be taxed at all.

So please don't sit there and claim that I am "throwing someone under the bus".

15. How is it another issue they are taking $120 billion out of the
SS funding in order for you and everyone else to get another tax cut. We went into this opposing the extension of the tax cuts for the rich and they get those and everyone else gets a free handout at our expense.

16. I'm not sure why you are angry at me...
I'm on your side. And I had no idea the plan was to pay for this out of SS... I offered to give my break back so don't sit there and tell me I'm fucking you over to get a tax break.

18. I am willing to give up my tax break too but what does it matter
you are getting yours like it or not. Who is paying for the middle class bribe? SS recipients, that's who.

11. If you are on SS, you are not affected by the change in retirement age
I do worry that they will use the lower amount in the "trust fund" to say that the solvency is less than it is now.

14. Do we get a tax cut? NO Do we get any COLA? NO
Edited on Tue Dec-07-10 06:43 PM by doc03
Do we get $400 like last year? NO We know already the catfood commission wants to change the COLA formula. We already know the catfood commission wants to raise the retirement age. There is also talk of means testing so those of us who saved some money in a 401k or have a pension will be penalised. Now they outright steal $120 billion out of SS funding and you think they aren't going to use that to make even deeper cuts.

9. Under the Bill Clinton tax code
I made $15k more a year.

My health insurance for an entire family was half of what I pay for myself alone now.

Gas, groceries and utilities were cheaper too so hell yes!

Raise my taxes too!

19. Please DONATE IT
to a homeless shelter or a food bank. Please. It's not what we wanted but we don't have to 'take it' either.

That's my pledge - I will figure out how to calculate the difference and donate that amount to help those I wanted to help by foregoing this damn tax 'break'. People out there need help and if the government won't do it then damn it, I will.

21. Yep, I told the White House & my congress critters that I would rather give up my tax break
...so as not to further plunge our economy into a deeper dark hole. I let them know that yeah, we're struggling, but if they keep pushing republican policies we will be hurting more.
