6. I've been over all of this before.

It should not have been close enough for that to matter. As much as I wanted Al Gore in 2000 and was looking forward to a Gore presidency since 1992, he ran the single worst presidential campaign I have ever seen. He should have carried AK, TN, OH and probably WV. If he had, FL would not have mattered. Plus, there was no local effort. The party had become complacent and there was no local effort in a lot of places including here. In hard to go searching for something to do for the campaign in 2000. In 2004 we had a nation-wide ground-up and top-down campaign machine. We had so many volunteers in '04 that people were volunteering their cellular telephone minutes because we ran out of phone-bank lines. In '04 we had lawyers running around town making sure that operations were not hindered by poll officials who thought we were stepping on their toes. (A one point the ward officials called the police on us. The DA called the cop who responded and told him the volunteers had a right to be there.)

The point is that if we did in '00 what we did in '04, bin Laden would be dead, the hijackers would have been arrested at the airport and President Gore would be accepting a Nobel prize.

I know the Rs stole the election in 2000. That was one cause for the loss. There were a lot of other causes too.

up until the coup of 2000. Al Gore is the only person in state history that I'm aware of to win all 95 counties when he ran for the Senate.
