1. Here's the catch, though--they might only agree to vote for it if they
extract yet another concession that's unacceptable to Democrats. Or, hell, they might just change their minds--either to thwart Obama's agenda or under threat from Turtle Man and McLame.
4. I was not aware that ANY Dems would defect. Hadn't heard that about Pryor.
But I expect some shenanigans from the GOPers, nonetheless--no matter what they personally believe or what their constituents want. Susan Collins already said she won't vote for it unless her conditions were met (can't remember what they were).
You wrote "another concession that's unacceptable to democrats". That's a ridiculous statement. There are no concessions that are unacceptable to Democrats. They'll concede until they're blue in the face. Hell, they'll find concessions that the other side didn't even know they want conceded and they'll concede them.
So fuhgeddaboudit. However, if it suits the Democrats to trade something away for the empty promise of repealing DADT, the Republicans will be quite happy to see something else negotiated away that they can't stand.
