I have been here since early 2001 and have never seen fund raising

last so long. Have users here just given up on supporting this place? I understand there are numerous trolls here who would never donate to our cause but have we lost our really dedicated people? So many names no longer here. I recognize this place has changed and not necessarily for the better but it is still one of the best sites on the Internets and believe it or not what we say here does find it's way into more powerful circles. Let's not get complacent because I think we are just starting to get some traction on holding all of our elected officials accountable, especially the GOP. Even ten bucks will help..:shrug:

1. What are you talking about? Usually it starts on a Sunday and ends on

a Saturday.

The last two or three drives have been a bit quicker, but previously the last couple hundred stragglers always came in on Friday or Saturday.

8. Huh? This is normal, the fund raising is every quarter and lasts

for a week. The last quarter fund-raiser was during Valentines, lasted a week. Are you meaning the rate of "climb" in the number of donations is slower? If so, that is true, during the Valentine's quarter, the 1000 donations goal was reached earlier but the time frame for the fund-raiser was the same, one week.

9. I, for one, haven't made my donation yet. I've been pissed the last few days and have

really thought about not donating. I tired of some of the immigrant bashing and those who call the elected Democrats 'traitors'. And it seems like DU has been overtaken by a bunch of 12 year olds who have no knowledge of history nor how the government works.

I agree that DU is a good place and will probably make a donation, but I miss the days when there were actual, rational discussions in the threads instead of name-calling.

It was a bad week to hold a fundraising. I know those who are pissed the dems funded the war think they are the base when in fact only 13% of Americans support cutting off funding altogether (our only other option).

These temper tantrum weeks suck.

Come back next week...things will be better. (Although, like you I miss rational discussions which do see fewer in number these days. I find myself reading comments to thoughtful blogs more than spending time here.)
