Stop Comcast from blocking Netflix-Sign the petition
Subject: Stop Comcast from blocking Netflix

Dear Friend,

It's as brazen as it is outrageous. At the very same time that the FCC is deliberating the fate of our open Internet, cable giant Comcast threatened to block Netflix from delivering streaming movies to Comcast's own broadband customers.

Without strong net neutrality rules, companies like Comcast can demand fees from innovative companies like Netflix in an attempt to choke consumer freedom and coerce users to adopt its own video services instead.

I just signed a petition to telling the commissioners of the FCC not to let Comcast block Netflix and to support strong net neutrality protections.

I hope you'll sign on too. It's easy to do so at the link below.

1. I sent a nice letter and a donation through act blue
I stated that I know that big corporate interests will win again unless someone finally stands up to them and says "enough." We'll see what FCC chairman Julius Genachowski does with this. I can always hope.

2. What????

Are you aware that Akamai and Comcast had an agreement that was for traffic sharing and whoever had the most traffic compensated the other? Like when Netflix was with Akamai. Now Netflix is with Level 3 and so Level 3 has way more traffic going to Comcast and
Comcast wants compensated for it just like with Akamai. Kinda like standard, duh.

Comcast is not blocking Netflix, Level 3 wants a free ride.

This is why we always lose, we never have the facts and know what we are talking about. Comcast said they want the EXACT agreement they had with Akamai when they carried Netflix.

6. NBC has nothing to do with this.
Secondly, as a Comcast customer I do not want to subsize Level 3 by them putting more traffic on Comcast network and I pay for it.

"Level 3's core business previously entailed the carriage of Internet traffic across the US, but it has increasingly turned to a distribution model in order to expand its business. Netflix's popular streaming video service being one of its chief customers in this space. Obviously this change will also boost the amount of bandwidth that Level 3 would require.

"Comcast is effectively putting up a toll booth at the borders of its broadband Internet access network, enabling it to unilaterally decide how much to charge for content," Level 3 chief legal officer Thomas Stortz said in a statement. "This action … is a clear abuse of the dominant control that Comcast exerts in broadband access markets."

The cable provider returned fire in a competing statement, with its own legal counsel Joe Waz saying Level 3 had misrepresented negotiations, and wants increased bandwidth for its own customers for free, with Comcast's customers footing the bill.

"We are happy to maintain a balanced, no-cost traffic exchange with Level 3," Waz said. "However, when one provider exploits this type of relationship by pushing the burden of massive traffic growth onto the other provider and its customers, we believe this is not fair."

7. Why does comcast care about a petition signed by a bunch of people who don't have comcast?
You aren't supposed to do anything but encourage people to cancel their comcast. Petitions don't get things changed, you have to hit their bottom line.
