(11-29) 17:44 PST SAN FRANCISCO -- Linsey Taylor's call for help ended up landing her in jail for a month.

The 52-year-old Taylor has been panhandling on the streets of San Francisco for years. The afternoon of Oct. 24, she called 911 from California and Drumm streets, where she said a rival panhandler had punched her in the face.

After 15 minutes, she called back to say no officer had arrived and that the man had struck her again. "I'm waiting on you guys to come," she told the dispatcher.

By the time an officer got there at least five minutes later, Taylor said she had been forced to defend herself by stabbing her alleged assailant with a box cutter. Officers arrested her on suspicion of assault and handcuffed her, but noted in the investigative report that she was cooperative.

The other panhandler, however, was not so helpful. He was identified in the police report as Al Pittman, 54, who has prior convictions for assault and rape. Police described him as belligerent and handcuffed him as well.

1. of course she was jailed
she stabbed someone

did you expect the police to let her walk?

do you think that they make determination of self-defense right there and then?
