I just resigned from my DEC.
As soon as it was apparent that the Iraq funding bill was approved, I said "Fuck it, I quit".

For years, I've donated money and time to the party. I've worked my ass off.I've managed campaigns, run for office, was county spokesperson for a presidential candidate. Right now, I'm co-managing a campaign and the Press Secretary for a special election candidate in a State Senate race. I'll work another month for this woman, because she's one of us. After that, it's over. No more money. No more time. I'm taking up golf again.

We've been sold out by our leadership twice this week. The first was on the "secret" trade agreement.

I'll remain a progressive. I'll still protest the war. I'll still fight for the environment. But I refuse to associate with collaborators.

3. Who the fuck do they represent anyhow?
I agree, this is just total bullshit. Nader was right. We have one party: The Corporate War Party. Rove is laughing his ass off.

20. So true. So very, very true.

I'm voting for Kucinich in the primary again and then in November I'll write him in for president.

Unless, of course, rank-and-file Democrats finally say "No more DINOs" and nominate Kucinich. But from what I see regularly at DU, that doesn't seem very likely.

I'm guessing the DLC will run Hillary and the GOP will run Fred and he'll win. :puke:

14. I'm going to finish off Suzans campaign.
She's one of us. And she deserves it.

And besides, she buys all kinds of gourmet doggie treats for my hounds.

I'll still be active. Just not in the same capacity.

12. You did the right thing, Dr.
The only way to stop them is to work FOR a real progressive alternative.

There can be no question now that they are nothing but frauds.

I salute you, and welcome you.

13. Why Did You Give Up Golf InThe First Place?
You gave up fresh air, physical activity, and fun in the sun?

That makes no sense.

15. If you saw my game lately, you'd know.
I used to play about 3 times per week, and was pretty good. When it got down to once a week, it got ugly. When it got down to a few times a year, you don't want to watch.

16. Ya' know what?
Can't blame you. Sometimes a human needs to just say "Fuck it!" and throw down his tools and walk off.
Don't worry. We can never replace you, but rest assured we will come together and try to fill the void. The job will get done, now. A critical mass has been reached and we have to weed out those politicians whom we were desperate and glad to support, last year, simply because they put a "d" after their name and were willing to be referred to as a "liberal" even some of the time. Perhaps you can assist in that arena-your expertise would be valuable.

Do what you can, with our profound thanks and, should you ever wish to step back into harness, be sure there will be open arms and a hearty welcome to you for what ever you wish to contribute to the fray. Thank you for your service.

And also, thanks for sharing the trials and tribulations with us here, most especially your run for office. That was heartening during the extremes of the emotional ride we took to get to here and now.

19. I did that back in 1972
I remained a progressive, I still protested the (Vietnam) war, I still fought for the environment (and civil rights and reproductive rights and LGBT rights), and I refused to associate with collaborators. So did a lot of other lefties, people who might have joined Sanders, Wellstone and Kucinich in the pipeline leading to higher office.

Hey! How did that work out for us? Did we have a populist uprising that I somehow missed out on? :sarcasm:

21. Later
As for me, I'll be at the State Convention in June, for the first time ever, as an attendee or a delegate.

You'll have to pry my membership card out of my cold, dead hands.

We are the party as much as the leadership is. And unless good people are working their way up the ranks, nothing can change.

22. good for you!
two weeks ago, I received a phone call from the Obama campaign asking for money, last night I got one from the Clinton campaign

told them both the same thing - "show me impeachment and I'll show you some money".

After getting the stock-answer whine of "we don't have the votes" from the Clinton campaigner I elaborated a bit more:
"No it's not that you don't have the votes - you don't have the spine, and after caving in to bush on Iraq it's clear you don't have the balls either. If you don't stand up for your principles and beliefs, how can I expect you to stand up for the wishes of the country? "

23. Is this a serious declaration, or just another frustrated cry for help, like when you announced that
you were going to challenge Bill Nelson for the Democratic nomination last year?

You say collaborators, I say enablers--but it's all Vichyssoise in the end. Which is now at hand...
